It's easy to get overwhelmed by the systemic murderous evil in our country, and it's easy to feel like there's nothing we can do to fight it. But we can let our voices be heard.

Yes to this. I kept my full time teaching job for two years, taking time off when I could to sell at conventions. It took me those two years to get to where I could be a full time artist, and after 18 years of it I still need my husband’s job to cover health care costs.
Don’t know who needs to hear this but stop quitting your job to do artist alley and conventions, there are no benefits or health insurance and it is so unpredictable and the competition is worse than trying to get into Harvard lol

The face you make when you’re in fifth place at pub trivia but the last question is about video games.

We got third.

Made ginger chicken noodle soup with homemade broth and shirataki noodles and it was pretty darn tasty. I didn't have onion for a full mirepoix, so I suppose I added a mirep.

sometimes someone just finds the absolute perfect combination of words

can we put this on everything????
"If you want to know who took all of your money, it's the people with all of the money."

I keep thinking about this post and how it's one of the best, most succinct messages Democrats could use in 2026 campaigns.
If you want to know who took all of your money, it's the people with all of the money. Famously, we know that's people working in child care.

The destruction doesn't make for a photo-op like tearing down the East Wing of the White House or bulldozing the Rose Garden, but it's every bit as bad. Generations of American children learned to spell and count, learned the Preamble to the Constitution, from watching shows produced by the CPB.

It's National Bird Day! I sketched this whooping crane for an upcoming project. There were once only 20 left in the wild, but collective action brought that number to over 800 today. That's still not enough, but it's better than extinction.

Do good, even when it seems like it's never enough.

I desperately want blood lemons to exist. ❤️
Toddler asked for Little Vampires book by @rhicks.bsky.social. As we were getting ready for bed, I asked if he remembered what Little Vampires eat.
"Blood lemon juice!"
Close, it's blood oranges, but now I wonder about blood lemonade...

I'm seeing a lot of posts to call your reps but little on actually how. 5calls.org is a great site where you can put in your zip code and get numbers for your house representative and two senators. You also can get a script if you're like me and stumble over your thoughts.

I want to push back against the sentiment that we live in terrible political times and we must exist as if we don't. Let me hold your hand gently when I say this:

You don't have to keep it moving like the world isn't burning. You can meet the moment *and* do daily life. Let's talk about how. 🧵

It's J.R.R. Tolkien's birthday today, so raise a glass to the professor. In evil times like these, works like his remind us that "in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow. Even darkness must pass." And it will pass, but only with our collective effort.
