Really at a loss for how many people from my old music journalism world are still over on Zuck/Musk platforms but not here. I get it, there are companies I can't quit either and right now Bluesky feels like mainly political news. But I just wonder what the red line could ever be?

Put another way - an appeal helped force the Secret Service to reverse course on my FOIA request for records relating to the construction of the White House ballroom in even less time than it took the Trump administration to tear down the East Wing.
Last week the Secret Service tried to get out of conducting a FOIA search for records about construction of the White House ballroom by saying they were presidential records.

I appealed, and within a business day the agency reversed course and agreed to conduct a search.

Appeal. Appeal. Appeal.

My fav new album this week is Saints and Aliens by Sis and the Lower Wisdom, the new outfit from the Oakland-based 🇺🇸 artist Sis, who infuses her jazz-folk-pop music with East-Asian spirituality (and catchy melodies).

So sorry to see this. Black Midi’s debut was a collision of ideas and personalities, an album that made the case for why bands are bands

Insanely fortunate to be able to walk around the Des Moines Art Center for free, casually discuss (say) a Frankenthaler with the family, and then come home and open the New Yorker to an article about a new MoMA exhibition devoted to her.

Ha yes of course. It was totally fine obviously but fun to imagine how someone else might have handled. Hope you’re ok, keep up the important work!

Would love to see Larry David take on the experience of buying movie tickets for a tiny theater, showing up right as the movie begins because you have assigned seats so why sit through trailers, and then people being in your seats and claiming they‘re theirs.
