So apparently there's a decent amount of interest!

✋ if you work in this space and would like to be added to a starter pack

Would love to continue raising awareness of these careers and key needs in transit
Any interest in a #transittech feed and/or starter pack to make sure the signal is stronger for real people doing real work to make transit ops and rider info better and overpowers the noise of gadgetbahns?

My Streetcar Stop Consolidation Concept:

- Remove stops without an opposing stop and/or closer than 300m
- Maintain a general maximum spacing of 500m on streets and 600m along ROWs
- Move stops where turns occur to farside for TSP effectiveness
- Consolidate stops for services in the same direction

Can someone explain to me why this blew up?
I both love and hate that jetBlue is time and price competitive against Amtrak between DC and Boston

Wearing my Acela hat to rep my favorite public corporation to console myself (as I sit in an EvenMore Space seat I got for free thanks to Mosaic status 🫣)

Thanks to a series YIMBY reforms—and high-quality administration—in San Diego, the city has been in the midst of a building boom, even as construction has plummeted elsewhere. The result? Rents are down six months in a row. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/12/17/s...
San Diego rents have fallen for 6 months. Should you ask your landlord for a deal?
San Diego rents are down 0.3% year-over-year to an average $2,520 per month.

This is the MARTA bus stop sign. The TP indicates a Time Point for the bus operator to know this stop is an official Time Point in the schedule that they are measured against for on time performance or OTP. I've not seen this at another transit agency.

My middle brother is now ADHD hobby deep into cars and I'm just sitting here watching a YouTube video of someone excitedly doing a Subaru engine build from scratch

Just imaging if we had this for bus engine rebuilds

The WMATA subreddit loves to dump on DC Metro's conversion to single letter bullets for being too 'New York' — these still represent the abbreviation of the color of the line (R for Red instead of RD)

They'd lose their shit if they reassigned them arbitrary letters like what LA Metro did
December 23, 2025 at 2:39 AM
Hooo boy does LA's J line (Silver) have more of that awful highway median experience in droves. At least it also has such a great view of the skyline coming into DTLA
December 22, 2025 at 11:55 PM
The only good experience of median-running transit is getting to whizz past traffic

@metrolosangeles.bsky.social hey heads up: your Venhub inventory the app for LAX/Metro Transit Center is missing these ornaments and plushies

I wanted to buy some but I can't even select them

I think it is actually fine for big apartment buildings to look like big apartment buildings, rather than fifteen different smaller buildings with implausibly similar floor heights smushed together.

(As a Brutalism Enjoyer, I understand that my architectural taste falls far outside the mainstream.)
Very happy to hear that 60 new homes are coming to Westfield NJ, and, without wanting to be a hater at all, new homes are good, what the hell is going on with this architecture?? www.nj.com/union/2025/1...

Very much 'we spared no expense' vibes from the new shelters at the NJ Transit bus terminal in Hoboken

These are Landscape Forms' Connect 2.0 shelters designed by Designworks, the same BMW Group division that did the styling of the new BART trains

The Québec pension fund, Caisse de Dépôts, did it again: they soft opened the Deux-Montagnes branch of REM, an automated train, yesterday.
November 15, 2025 at 3:59 PM
Also worth noting how REM has elegantly they're able to declutter overhead cable runs by consolidating everything into neat utility conduits combined with lighting

This is easy when you're doing greenfield construction and major station rebuild projects but I feel like you can also plan this
November 16, 2025 at 10:06 PM
I'm just noticing all the REM stations actually don't have central HVAC — they're fully enclosed but costs seem to be kept simple with fans for circulation, radiant heaters for warmth, and louvers and louvered windows for passive circulation
