T sends me pictures of birds on his walks so I can identify them (I am sneakily turning them into a birder). Today’s sighting was a real treat.

I just watched the full replay of the men’s free skate (I was doing doctor things during the live broadcast), and I am STUNNED. I am so thrilled that Sato Shun is on the podium, but boy did I not foresee it being like this. I am also just honestly so happy for Misha. But HOLY COW.

I'd never before encountered an audiobook narration of a non-fiction work that included accent work when reading direct quotes from actual people, but I can now say that I do not care for it.

Oh, bet. Jesus take the wheel type of fire season.
Idaho folks, have no fear.

Yes, the Idaho legislature has obliterated the firefighting budget because tax breaks created a huge shortfall but they're making up for it with prayer, which is much, much cheaper.
yea few of them were real excited about praying for rain and snow.

I would take it as a kindness if every person opposed to these proposed cuts would show up to committee hearings and sessions and make it these legislators’ fucking problem every day of this session. The dems in the house and senate are in there trying with no backup.
Democrats said they have a suite of budget and policy proposals to avoid a budget shortfall without the need for the additional 1% and 2% cuts for most state agencies. But Republicans who control supermajorities in the House and Senate have blocked them from introducing many of their bills. #idleg

Doctor appointment this morning, so, of course, I can do nothing while I wait for the time to approach, the vague fluttering of antsy fidgeting aside.

Hey, Idaho (particularly the Meridian area): did you know that there is a planned ICE expansion into your neighborhood? According to this reporting, we should be taking it seriously! www.wired.com/story/ice-ex...

My algebra teacher, so fed up with me staying after to ask Qs (I was very dedicated to understanding, but had no innate knack for it—especially with poor teaching methods) screamed at me repeatedly, “why are you so stupid?!” So yeah, I went into English literature and stopped considering science.
Those who weren’t resigned to the Math Idiot Garbage Bin as kids may not grasp how much “if you’re bad at math, you’ll die in a ditch and all will be better off for it” sentiment was floating around in the 90s and 2000s, but it sure felt real to me.

(my parents are great! It didn’t come from them!)

One of the best exhibitions I've been to in past years! Come for the visually fascinating portraits and stay for the historical commentary.
Did I mention that the PDF catalog of the Holsinger Studio Portrait Project's exhibition, Visions of Progress, is freely downloadable online? Over 10,000 people saw the show at UVA, then it went to the Black History Museum of Virginia. Now it's touring churches & schools.

If you are on makerworld, please go boost this model just to give our comrade what he deserves. Even if you're not printing whistles.

I've boosted it all I can.
I just want everyone to know that the creator of one of our favorite whistles (the micro bitonal) is a very nice man in Italy who has been messaging me asking if there are things he can tweak in the next version he is designing mostly to help us mass produce these more efficiently to fight ICE.
