My slightly more charitable take on some of that phenomenon is “no one wants to believe you because it makes them feel like a bad judge of character.” Maybe more true for someone like Cosby, a version of whom we assumed we knew and could trust in.

I had been following him for a couple of weeks for Minneapolis reasons, and then unfollowed when he spent the entire weekend on a weird tirade that felt like it was all about him rather than community organizing. Usually takes me ages to unfollow someone.

If they know anything about humans at all, I’d think they’d be pretty happy for the lack of attention the rest of the year, and likely view February 2nd as an accursed day they must endure to live the rest of the year in peace.
