Faaaaaacts.
So does how they save the day, I think. No spoilers.
Gotta hand it to Marvel: the 2012 Avengers mood vs. the 2025 Thunderbolts mood perfectly nails the times they exist in.

We're going to need a new one.
Having zero clue what the Declaration of Independence means, Trump told ABC’s Terry Moran it stands for “unity and love.”

No. It’s the exact opposite.

Here’s an actual excerpt from the document.
Who does it remind you of?

Don't flinch.
I asked @mariaressa.bsky.social what advice she has for Americans, based on what she experienced under Rodrigo Duterte.

One thing she told me: You can’t flinch in a game of chicken with an autocrat. And, she observed, too many Americans are now flinching.

Harvard's Steve Levitsky, coauthor of How Democracies Die: "We are no longer living in a democratic regime." Must-listen interview - remarkably clear about the severity of the situation we now face www.npr.org/2025/04/22/n...
Harvard professor offers a grim assessment of American democracy under Trump
Steven Levitsky studies how healthy democracies can slip into authoritarianism. He says the Trump administration has already done grave damage: "We are no longer living in a democratic regime."

Libro.fm = Audible replacement
Bookshop.org = Amazon replacement (yes, even for eBooks)

Break up with Sky Daddy*, go full indie. (When you're not library-ing,.that is. Which you ought to also do. Gratuitously.)

*Sky Daddy is what my baby sis calls that Jeff guy. It's stuck in my brain now.

Tomorrow, a certain online mega-retailer launches a book sale, just days before Indie Bookstore Day on 4/26. This is no coincidence; Bookstore Day is one of the largest revenue drivers for indies.

Indies need our support to thrive & build community spaces for all...mega-retailers do not.

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

Rn On Tyranny travels w/ me everywhere I go. The book's def having a big moment. Friends/family get to hear me respond with "Lesson [insert # here]" regularly.

At the same time another Timothy Snyder book, Black Earth, shouldn't be overlooked. Esp after the latest Oval Office fascist bro love-fest.

Make Orwell Fiction Again
"Diversity is discrimination" is literally Orwellian language, like "war is peace, hate is love, slavery is freedom."

The great thing about fighting back against this stuff is that if you end up losing anyway you get the same outcome you’d have gotten from complying but you don’t have to fucking hate yourself too.

Last July, Project 2025's Kevin Roberts said “the second American Revolution ... will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”
It was a declaration of war against the American people, a demand for our surrender. Some cowards in law, academia and business have submitted. Many of us never will.

I'm pretty sure I learned about this the first time I watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Anyone? Anyone?
In 1930, 6 months after the Smoot-Hawley tariffs were enacted by President Hoover, world trade decreased by SIXTY PERCENT (60%). Because of policies like the Smoot-Hawley tariffs contributing to the Great Depression in the 1930's, Hoover is considered one of our WORST president's.
Sound familiar?

This article explains the obligation to refuse an unlawful order, with UCMJ citations, & provides a template for doing so.

This is about turning libraries & museums into propaganda machines. Make federal funding for State Library Agencies contingent on bending the knee. I'm crossing all fingers & toes that the Chief Officers of those SLAs have the fortitude to refuse. And that state governments will fill their $$ needs.

Shit.
SCOOP: DOGE notified the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) today that the entire staff is being put on administrative leave effective immediately, I’ve learned from an agency source.

They’ll be cancelling huge swaths of grants/contracts and starting a Reduction in Force (RIF).
