It has been wild to see what were always the two most paranoid pro-Second Amendment scenarios—the government snatching people away and sending occupying armies into communities—literally happen this year, to the delight of conservatives
There can’t be any gun restrictions because we have to protect against federal government tyranny, and if kids get shot we just have to live with it. Also the President can send troops to cities because the federal government can do whatever it wants. These two ideas are consistent and reasonable.

This is profoundly bad. The data generated by NASA feeds research in many, MANY disciplines. I, for instance, am a historian, and my dissertation (now book project) uses satellite imagery as a major source for exploring the historical relationship between people and the environment.

There are many, many aspects of the current administration that fill me with white hot rage, but as a child of two parents fighting cancer, everything they’ve done to interfere with progress in the fight against cancer is particularly personal for me.
RFK Jr. has now officially stated that he will dismantle the United States Preventive ServicesTask Force (USPSTF).

This is an independent body of expert scientists who volunteer their time to review data and provide guidance to Americans on important things like cancer screenings.
