Facelifts, breast implants, breast reduction surgery, penis lengthening, nose jobs, lip jobs, flappy underarm fixing and now limb lengthening

Nobody bats an eye about all this

But when trans folks want surgery, it’s suddenly considered wrong or unethical or whatever.

🧐
Limb-lengthening has been practiced by orthopedic surgeons for decades as a means of correcting deformities or length discrepancies. But in height surgery, it can be used for patients who wish to add a few inches to their height. The cosmetic procedure has grabbed more attention recently.
Height Surgery for Men Can Add Inches But Has Risks
Limb-lengthening can add inches to a person’s stature. But its risks have made it controversial.

@preetbharara.bsky.social love your long-form interviews but at some point you should push back against tired tropes like USA president being the leader of the free world. The US ranks way down the list of free countries and does not present a compelling argument to follow your ways.

#yegbike it looks like they brined the 113 MUP north of 111 ave. Thin glare ice gone (for now) but major buildups still there.

I hope all those #yeg fools who chopped ice and left chunks all over their sidewalks have fun shoveling tomorrow. They probably won’t bother, though.

That he would stand up is WHY he is not premier. The party dumped him for being not extreme enough.
Jason Kenney says separtation has been "de-stigmatized" by current UCP. The job now is to show what a horrible idea it is. If he were still premier, we'd have a government standing up to separatist leaders. Column. tinyurl.com/yz55wh3n #ableg #abpoli #cdnpol #yyc #yeg
Braid: Jason Kenney fiercely battles separatism — unfortunately, not as premier
Jason Kenney has emerged as a fierce opponent to separatism. If he were still premier this would be a very different government.

#yegcc #yegbike I’m sure we have some unused spaces underground downtown that could become public bike parking. A few cameras wired into one of the area security feeds and we could make downtown much more welcoming!
Take a tour of the new cycle parking below Berlin's Potsdamer Platz.

Designed for utility, sport, electric and cargo bikes, it enables a smooth transition to public transport, while taking a disused and uncomfortable private retail corridor and reimagining it as a safe and inviting community space.

Thanks to unseasonably warm (less draw) and dry (more production) weather (but not unprecedented as @yegwxnerdery.bsky.social points out), my solar system has delivered about 2/3 of my power so far this month. In February. But #solar doesn’t work in the winter in #yeg

I bet the adherents of the three major parties have different views of those Canadian values though. How many from wax party would agree that adherents of the other parties share Canadian values? As the CPC drifts further right and Maple MAGA I think the gulf widens. #cdnpoli

.@ABDanielleSmith and @jkenney pass themselves off as conservatives. In fact, they are "authoritarian libertarians," Smith more so than Kenney.

Does this not sound EXACTLY like Smith's UCP govt?

So glad that #yeg has free skate rentals on weekends at the free City Hall ice rink. I always see immigrants trying it out for the first time mixed with old-timers like me. Getting on right after the Zamboni 😁😁

That this is necessary tells you something. Autocrats hate independent judiciary because they want no one to be able to stop them. Also why they hate true independent media.
Quite unusual: Alberta's three Chief Justices have issued a signed statement on judicial independence. No reason specified but comes not long after Premier Danielle Smith made some comments re: same during a year-end interview.

This is exactly why the humanities are critically important in post secondary institutions. The foundations of who we are.

Expertise and knowledgeable analysis of the moment we are in.

Never accept the lie that humanities departments are an unaffordable luxury that universities should axe.
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

I would really encourage #greenlanders to talk to the US Pacific Island peoples about their experiences with attempts at resource extraction before thinking about deals with US administration. Territories have little rights; Puerto Rico et al still have no path to statehood. Neither will #Greenland

My ancestors came to Canada via Minnesota, (Bemidji, Albert Lea). Mostly 1 generation in USA, so glad they headed for southern SK and northern AB! I recognize I am of immigrant settler stock who homesteaded on cheap land from a colonial government. What is going on in MN is sickening.

This.
I have to say, as a Canadian, I'm unabashedly proud of what the prime minister has done here. The global order that feeds all of us has been rotting from hypocrisy, and it needs to be rebuilt when the circumstances allow. Action will need to follow rhetoric, but action begins with thought & speech.
