Here is #yeg traffic fatalities per a CityNews article from last week adjusted up one for Friday’s incident. Based on my OHS training, I hesitate to call it an accident as it was fully preventable. The rate of increase is higher than the rate of decline was. Up 150% in 3 years!!

#yegbike It appears the 113 st MUP from 111 Ave to Kingsway is now "open". The two remaining open stretches have been gravelled (slightly concave) and barriers removed. You no longer have to divert onto the street. But north end still dumps you straight into Kingsway, so be careful!

#yegbike to O'day'min Park today. What a beautiful asset for #yeg and our downtown in particular. The push-button gas fires will be welcome all winter, the playground and seat swings are great. But my picture is of the simple fix I want for summer streets 2026. Screw the dinky double-90 ramps.

Brilliant Norwegian idea, unfortunately no longer available. Base tire for normal roads, zip on skins for other conditions including gravel and ice. The company, Retyre, has moved into low-CO2 bio-based pneumatic tires.

Looks like new MUP on 111 Ave from 113 st to Kingsway (connecting to 106 st) is in service. Only 3 light standards in the path - be careful! The crew has left more room around these than on some active transport paths, so partial yay? Also a pretty sizeable existing hole in the driveway at 110 st.

Fairly heavy traffic turning onto 120 st NB from 111 ave EB as a cut through to YH and Kingsway, also Timmy’s and the med clinic. Also 120 st SB to 111 ave WB; drivers ALWAYS pull up across where people cross which is a direct problem but also blocks sight lines for the EB traffic.

I’ll just leave this here. We have work to do #yeg #alberta

Next iteration of fall/winter yegbike gear. “Quilted” (not really) ear covers on the helmet straps. Quilting batten stuffed in helps hold the covers to the ears when riding into the wind. Easily removed when not wanted with velcro top closure. Head still breathes! Thanks be to the creative spouse!

I think I chose the right shirt today to ride near downtown. #yeg #standwithteachers

Great vintage tweed ride today with @bikeology.bsky.social @yegbike.bsky.social Thanks for organizing!

I love that we are getting new yegbike infrastructure in Prince Rupert and Queen Mary Park, but the project management is infuriating. They have torn up every pedestrian access to the south (towards downtown) from 109 st to 121 st. Walk in traffic or through active construction zones.

Progress being made...but the bottom cup is too small. Revisions necessary, but I've got time until yeg snowpack arrives. Yegbike

The first block of 113 st MUP south from Kingsway to slopitch parking lot is complete and beautifully smooth. Kingsway crossing will be next year. Also concrete at 113 st/111 ave north side, and progressing along 111 ave west to 119 st and east towards 109 st.

Yegbike 113 st MUP asphalting in progress from Kingsway south today! Not sure how far they will get but will check later.

So I'm working on a winter yegbike attachment...

Except some yahoo YEG crew thought putting a sign to warn drivers of a red light camera 2' into the MUP on 127 st was bright. Someone is going to catch that in the dark (or day) and crash. 18" to the road would have been out of the way and MORE visible to drivers! AAARGH! Just think, people!

Inspired by the recent @mliebreich.bsky.social podcast with the superb Hannah Ritchie from Our World in Data, I realized I had not yet read "Not the End of the World". Definitely worth reading, a dose of optimism in dark times. You need this if you feel bleak about today's physical world issues. YEG

One hill of taters dug west of yeg. About 25 more to go. I think I know what I'm eating this winter...I'm joining the Pink Potato Club!

As always, a great time donating plasma at Canadian Blood Services today. Wonder if the #Alberta separatists have thought through setting up their own blood supply? #forevercanadian

Hey local yeg network. I'm doing some cleanup. If anyone wants any of these leadership books from my former life, they are free to all. I'm near Kingsway Westmount area, can deliver within a reasonable yegcycle distance.

We are seeing progress on 113 st MUP north of 111 Ave. #yegbike

More progress on 113 st MUP north of 111 ave. Yeg yegbike

25 km (and a pint) proudly repping the #forevercanadian message around YEG today. Mill Creek has lovely sun-dappled (but mostly shady) trails for a Saturday yegbike.

To the two young ladies in the Mazda going west who stopped halfway through this YEG intersection on 100 ave just west of 109 st around 445, thank you for not killing the cyclist who had right of way. I’m sure you had a scare, but I assure you hers was MUCH larger. #yegbike
