What's the hurry?
In just 6 years, the UCP has been responsible for nearly half of all time allocation motions in Alberta history.
They're promising to do it again today, this time ramming through a bill that removes Charter rights in a matter of hours.

Chapman: minister's offer works out to 0.7 EAs per classroom which works out to about 20 minutes per class per day.
Nicolaides: assumptions about how teachers and EAs would be allocated.
Like how Danielle Smith averaged how many teachers exist in the province and how many students there are?

Pancholi: teachers and EAs needed are the responsibility of the UCP, parents shouldn't have to rally to get the UCP to do their job; your constituents have a recall petition bc they're not

I thought this was metaphorical hyperbole but, alas, no. The Department of Energy is selling off more than 40,000 pounds of weapons-grade plutonium from the Cold War arsenal to nuclear reactor startups. All of which I’m sure will be thoroughly vetted and monitored by…their former board member.

FWIW, the notwithstanding clause says that legislatures are empowered to breach certain rights and freedoms.
Not premiers.
Time allocation removes the ability of MLAs to fulfill their constitutional responsibility to Albertans.
Perhaps that's the point.

If she chooses this path, the premier will have taken it upon herself to decide which Albertans deserve which rights, removing all checks and balances in place to safeguard the freedoms embedded in the Charter.
I hope she doesn't.+
