No update on the bear who spent the last couple weeks killing goats, chasing people and dogs, and smashing pumpkins, but we can’t stay out of the woods. It’s our whole thing.

our dog is part corgi part German Sheppard and whenever people hear this fact they say "oh imagine those two dogs making him" and like, yeah imagine true love in a doomed world, I don't know what we're all so afraid of.

After a 6.5 hour, slo-mo sink-related disaster, I finally called it and told this taskrabbit guy that I know he tried but he made things exponentially worse. My dog’s all runnin’ with her dress unbuttoned, screaming but Momma I love him

I fell for it again. My dog clanged the metal garbage can and her empty bowl and barked at me. I thought she was extra hungry and gave snacks. Then I remembered she does this if I don’t appropriately move from what she considers the day portion of the house to approved Night Areas. I never learn.

Once a week I give my dog a big cardboard box to rip and shred and then I crawl around on my knees picking up the the scraps. Now she celebrates whenever a package gets delivered.
my parenting secret is Big Cardboard Box. are your kids grumpy? bored? on their toddler bullshit? ask if Big Cardboard Box is right for your family

Next door neighbors have 6mo foster puppy. They love each other. Today she invited him to cool off in the shade under my car after a hike.

I have attained a pristine pair of the same boots Molly Ringwald wore in The Breakfast Club. Not similar, but 1980s Ralph Lauren deadstock. Decades of searching. they were always waiting for me.

This is my 95-year-old neighbor. He's been living alone since his wife passed away from cancer, and not long ago, he also lost his loyal companion dog. Now, every day, our chicken Hei Hei escapes the yard just to visit him. She sits with him, accepts treats, and lets him pet her like an old

Would you be interested in helping some incarcerated folks access art supplies? A request from my pen pal follows. This is one way to fight fascism. Humanize the incarcerated. Jeremiah works so hard to help others.

For months I’ve been collecting and organizing links and legal documents to make my 80-year old aunt, who now lives in Florida full time, understand that we are not in a politics-as-usual situation. You would not believe how much time I spend thinking about this, about convincing her.

Officially the longest I’ve been away from her since we met (7 days and counting).

Fun fact about the DC State Fair: we offer more than 60 contests including best pie, funkiest looking fruit/vegetable, best kids’ slime, and best District poem. I’m the president of the board now, but my involvement at the fair started with a blue ribbon for Best Fruit Pie (Non-Apple) in 2019.
Um, so, if today has you feeling some kind of DC pride, might I humbly ask for a donation to this year’s DC State Fair? We are having a tough time with sponsors this year, and need the support of our community more than ever.

My neighbor did everything she could for the chicken Izzy and I found dumped on side of road in a cardboard box, including bringing her in every evening to watch detective shows. But she wasn’t built to last. RIP Poppy, we love you.

I’m about to go on Facebook for first time since the 2016 election to access a local dog group and try to find people who might like FREE doggy daycare at my house because my dog is so bored she’s ruining our lives but cannot handle the dog park. Please someone bring me playful dogs for her.
