This entire thread is essential information.
We have to view the challenge as The People vs. Trump + MAGA + Big Tech + Billionaires.

In this context, Big Tech = The Death Star.

Big Tech includes not only platforms, but also crypto & generative AI; one giant system of interrelated elements. All produce far more harm than good. 6/

I chuckled at one of the comments lamenting the typos. I share their pain, but as a reader from "The First TPM Post" onward, I've come to think of lamentable typos and non sequiturs as a grand TPM tradition. They come with the deal.

The New York Times can go to hell. Paper of record my ass.
Not only was the Times obsessed with Hillary Clinton's emails while ignoring emails about Donald Trump sent to its own reporter, but since then it has constantly attacked anyone who dared look into questions of Trump's character. All with sanctimony.

Now we know it was all a big lie.

Whether Dem leadership says this or not, it seems true on its face.
WATCH: “Dems should say ‘we offered them a win + a chance to help their own supporters, now we’re taking it to the ballot.’”

@chrislhayes.bsky.social & @timmiller.bsky.social on what the shutdown accomplished— and Dems blowing the messaging.

Unpopular opinion:

Democrats aren't wusses and clowns and surrender monkeys. Rather, Republicans are goons, bullies, and thieves.

And the voters elected Republicans.

Dems are doing what they can. Want them to do more? Put them in actual power.

This I can accept. It's easy to be righteous when someone else will do the suffering for it.

I still can't take Chuck Schumer, but I'm turning my wrath back where it belongs - on the craven Republicans who will never care who gets hurt in their way.
Trump canceling SNAP benefits ultimately broke Dems.

“It showed there was no bottom," said one Senate Dem aide.

"It became clear that by staying the course and not putting an end to Trump’s cruelty, we were hurting the people we were trying to help.” www.huffpost.com/entry/why-de...
The Moment That Really Got Democrats To Cave In The Shutdown Fight
Donald Trump was willing to make millions of people suffer. Democrats didn’t have the stomach for it.

I was going to watch Frankenstein tonight but ended up enthralled by Death by Lightning. What a great show! Frankenstein tomorrow.

Patty Murray would be an excellent Democratic Leader.
I will not let people forget that the same Republicans who did everything in their power to make tax breaks for billionaires PERMANENT refused to even negotiate ONE YEAR of health care tax credits for working families.

I'm still not over Trump bulldozing the White House.

Unpopular opinion: Pete Buttigieg is kind of a weasel. Talented, great speaker, entertaining, competent, a good Transportation Secretary, but... kind of a weasel.

He's on Team Centrist and subtly throws progressives under the bus at every opportunity. He won't say AOC's name if he can avoid it.

This is a great podcast about Social Security. One point it makes: Social Security is what keeps your parents from moving in with you once you finally get away and have a place of your own. (and other, better points)

Schumer is toast. Either he wanted this to happen or he didn't.

Both are damning.

People are saying there's no upside to this deal. Wait a second. Isn't the end of Chuck Schumer's political career an upside?

In case you're wondering, Warner buries the lede down in the bowels of this thread. He's a no.
But I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they are going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick.

We tried to show them after the last surrender. There's no sense in trying to convince them anymore. Primaries are the only path to a fighting opposition party now.

There are endless examples of this regime of the bullies for the billionaires attacking our people. When we make believe we're in a fight for healthcare subsidies alone, as critical as those are, negotiating in good faith as if MAGA were normal party - we normalize the regime.
