Low traffic neighbourhoods in Hackney and Islington make it possible for me & thousands of others to travel sustainably with kids. It really is as simple as that.

Valley Road has been a sewer in recent months & it was only a matter of time before someone got hurt.

I hope the kid gets better soon.

We need the LTN reinstalled as a matter of urgency. Still no sign of when the A23 works are going to happen though…

Residents’ fury as child hospitalised in crash on Streatham’s ‘most dangerous road’

This is so terrifying. Valley Road is becoming a worse death trap than the High Street

Please bring back our LTN and stop this madness!
Please avoid Valley Road.

Very sad to report that a child has been hit by a vehicle on Valley Road and the police have closed the road.

Wishing the child a full and speedy recovery.

You heard it here first - it's the buses fault that there is traffic
As you can see the queue of traffic is due to the bus which is perfectly understandable, I drove down valley this morning at 0815 and it was absolutely fine.

A very clear response from London Fire Commissioner, Andy Rowe to a question at Fire Plenary last week from Emma Best AM about the impact of LTNs on fire brigade attendance times.

"We genuinely couldn't find any evidence of LTNs doing anything to our overall attendance times".

Looking good on Valley Road, just as nature intended. Believe it or not, this school has a 'school street'

Any news on the next steps for Streatham Wells LTN or the years-delayed high road scheme?

Here's how it started: the switch from streets being dominated by pedestrians, with cars as the guests / interlopers, to what we have now: streets for cars, pedestrians having to look out for themselves.
It used to be different; it needs to be again.
“Americans did not choose car dependency. We didn’t vote for it, and it was not the winner in a free market competition. The real answer is complex, but a single turning point reveals an essential part of the story.”

The 100-Year Road to Car Dependency in the US
October 8, 2024, marks the centennial of the publication of what would soon become the Los Angeles Traffic Ordinance — a landmark on the road toward our car-dominated status quo.

This is not just a London thing. Driving is most convenient for many
We need:
1. pay as go you road pricing to make driving short trips in urban areas less convenient.
2. Amended vehicle tax to tax bigger and heavier vehicles more.
3. Lowered speed limits.

London has a congestion charge – and traffic in gridlock. We need other ways to end the obsession with cars | Jonn Elledge
The charge was seen as draconian, but new thinking is now essential. Look to the cities trying a range of bold ideas, says author Jonn Elledge

Happy new year!

To kick off 2025 we bring inspiration from our friends in Copenhagen🇩🇰

Just look at this space reserved for family cargo bike parking. Truly a thing of beauty🌳 🚲

Come on Lambeth - we know you can do this too!

Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 and replaced it with a restored stream, 1000 acre park and improved public transit, not only did it transform the city’s public life and economic success, but the car traffic got better.

The traffic got BETTER.

More cargo bikes = fewer car trips = happier & healthier communities
