Mice trials, mind you, but game changer if this can be done effectively in humans.
'This [...] elicits a far broader response that is protective against not just the flu virus, not just the Covid virus, not just the common cold virus, but against virtually all viruses, and as many different bacteria as we've tested, and even allergens.'

Single vaccine could protect against all coughs, colds and flus, researchers say
A Stanford University team have tested their nasal spray vaccine in animals but still need to do human clinical trials.

This is going to be a bold claim, but I'm pretty sure I could make a better movie for $30k than the AI "ideas guy" begging for ideas on the Internet, and filmmaking isn't a medium I've ever worked in before.
AI filmmaking is completely unserious.

You've got people with $30k begging the internet for ideas by next week because they have nothing of their own to say, it's just slop for the sake of slop. Embarrassing state of affairs.

In a minor bit of personal good news, I won my first Balatro run. (I'm not very good at deck builders, so this is an exciting thing to happen.)

So stoked! As an avid watcher of Trace and Frank on The Mads Are Back (c/o @dumb-industries.com ) I am loving this.

I can think of one YouTuber I follow who'd watch the Melania movie, and I have to figure out how to tell him not to do it.

(Dude's a film studies major and likes watching bad movies/TV shows to talk about them for his channel)

At some point recently I had opened up a PDF and Adobe Acrobat was chock full of all the little AI icons asking me if I wanted to summarize the document I was reading.

I was looking at the menu for Perkins family restaurant.
Gmail is now asking if I’d like to have two sentence emails summarized
Holy fuck I do not want an ai summary of my email thread at the top of the page by default. 1) I know how to read, and 2) I would rather spend my time READING THE ACTUAL FUCKING EMAIL

In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.

I have translated some of the highlights

In minor sadness, both my knee high socks blew their heels this morning.

Oh, roller skating T-Rexes, we hardly knew thee.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

You know that weird billionaire dude who is determined to live forever? The guy who measures his erections against his son's?

Do you think he has a will?

I'm a little sad I didn't get the Starbucks freebie today, but on the other hand, what did I expect when I didn't buy anything from there over the past year.
