Wellington voters don’t think bicycle lanes are bad for the city. If they did our councillors would look different

The new Wellington City Council will include 5 Labour councillors and 4 Green councillors, plus Andrew Little, giving the two party "coalition" an increased governing majority - 10 out of 16 votes, compared to 8 under the previous council.

The chair broke the tie by voting NO.

Prescriptions will NOT be required.

This behaviour has lingered throughout council all term. I hope people can see why it seemed so chaotic at times. We weren’t dealing with decent people.
The times we are living in eh? Determined to do what I can to make things, including the divisiveness of politics, better not worse. Actually better, not “Better Wellington”.

The "woke toilets"/"fancy toilets" that National and the PM are going on about lately are in response to the new, fully accessible, bathrooms opened in Wellington.

Fully accessible toilets & changing places are expensive, yes.

They are also a basic human right.

Our regional council has already approved fare capping, integrated ticketing and debit card payment - this isn’t new PT policy. It’s just that we’re at the behest of the govts national ticketing system. Wellington deserves what Auckland PT users already have. We shouldn’t have to wait longer

Here’s what I said about fare capping when the Regional Council agreed to it over a year ago in May 2024. It is all still true! But the delays have become intolerable. That’s where the focus needs to be: delivery. Needs to be fare capping together with debit card payment and integrated fares. 3/

Bus lanes keep costs down: faster bus trips mean more frequency for the same cost. Wellington has doubled bus priority measures this term and all candidates need to commit to finishing the job with the Golden Mile, Harbour Quays and route 2 to the eastern suburbs without any further delays. 2/

Very good to have more support for the Regional Council’s existing policy on fare capping. If central government’s ticketing project is delayed any further we should look to deliver this in Wellington now, as Auckland has already done. For now we need the city council to finish the bus lanes job. 1/

Wellington has doubled the length of bus lanes and bus priority over this council term. One result is afternoon peak travel times from Newtown to Courtenay Pl are a third faster. But the full benefits of these bus lane time savings rely on doing the Golden Mile and Harbour Quays projects ASAP. 1/
