Councillor for the Pukehīnau/Lambton Ward

Another 6 month review will not deliver the Golden Mile, just like the reviews before it. This city is stuck in managed decline and we desperately need to build our way out of it

A four lane road cutting through the most densely populated part of Wellington and NZTA still can't tell the Council where it's going - but apparently they can get in touch with over 200 property owners whose land they need for the new tunnels.

NDAs and no heads-up: NZTA freezes out council on tunnel plans
Wellington City councillor Geordie Rogers says a heads up on tunnel plans would have been nice ‒ especially given the wide-ranging impacts on the capital.

Hi @misswhanau.bsky.social @geordierogers.co.nz
I have just realised, as I’m on the unpublished role, I need to email WCC elections… only realised this after responded to a tweet on shitter.
A lot, like me, may have forgotten. Might be a good idea to put something out to remind people 😊

It's not a coincidence that our bus patronage numbers are hitting all time highs. This term we've delivered more bus lanes than the seven previous councils combined

People attack Rebecca because she actually gets shit done, she’s across all the issues and a formidable Councillor. Everyone should be telling their friends that live in the Western Ward that their only good option is #1 Rebecca Matthews
A couple of people have shared a disgusting post Better Wellington have made about me today. Three things: I will never attack my colleagues or anyone like they do, I am sad that others think it’s ok, and I have no intention of backing down on my work for the city and our people

If you’re worried about Little being wishy washy then you should vote 1 for your local Green candidates. That will deliver a team that will push for the climate action, transport and housing we need

Just to clarify, there is not another decision required on the City to Sea Bridge, and the decision to do this work was made well in advance of local body elections (last year). Subject to any appeal (which should be signalled this week), there is no other barrier to proceeding.

Stopping people from being able to update their electoral details on the spot just further disenfranchises voters who move often (renters, seasonal workers etc.). A bad move that’ll only harm people’s democratic right to vote www.thepost.co.nz/politics/360...
No more enrolling on voting day, new offence for handing out treats
The Government has overhauled New Zealand’s electoral law, including closing enrolment before advance voting begins.

Next term we have the opportunity to continue the fantastic work that @rebeccamatthews.bsky.social kickstarted. We can have a rating system that incentivises development, and gets behind housing for all, but to do that we need more Greens around the table www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3607...
Greens look to rates system to relieve residents, target landbankers
Mayoral candidate Alex Baker and the Green Party have independently come up with near-identical policies targeting landbanking.

Green councillors will push to get land value ratings across the line next term. Some other candidates continue to dress up their anti housing views in a flurry of “whataboutism” while rejecting every solution that will deliver more housing. Beware of the NIMBYism!

Politics should be a place where ideas can be robustly debated and working with councillors like Brown and Apanowicz who have different political views to me has actually made our decisions better. That’s unfortunately not the case here
Ray Chung is the human personification of the angriest and least-informed comment section on Facebook. He lacks the intellectual and temperamental qualities that we should expect from our elected officials.

Windbag: Ray Chung has never been fit for office
Recent revelations of Ray Chung spreading sexual rumours about Tory Whanau shouldn’t be a surprise to those who have followed his lone term on council.

Your Wellington Greens are committing to delivering a faster and more efficient bus network with bus lanes, stop improvements, and priority lights all the way from Seatoun to the Railway station
June 17, 2025 at 2:44 AM
The campaign is already showing signs of being run by misinformation. For someone who claims to be a numbers guy Chung is either bad at remembering numbers, or deliberately misleading the public www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3607...
Off the money? Ray Chung admits $42m misstep over debt numbers
Wellington mayoral hopeful Ray Chung seemed to overstate the council’s debt servicing burden by $42m a year. Or was it prescience?

Voters deserve to know if Ray Chung is standing on behalf of Inflection Point and Resistance Kiwi - so far he’s refused to rule it out or disclose who his major donor is. I support a city that unites us, and I’m not afraid to be transparent about it www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3606...

There’s more to a water network than pipes. WCC is making a significant investment in our lowest quality asset (our wastewater treatment plants) which other cities are not. Also each meter of pipe replaced provides more capacity than those in other cities www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3607...
Wellington’s ‘record’ water spend lags behind neighbours
The capital is replacing fewer pipes, spending less per person and relying heavily on future councils to deliver on promises made today.

A great discussion about the success of Te Kāinga. If we want our central city to be vibrant it needs to be affordable and Te Kāinga is doing exactly that. Adapting existing buildings is better for the environment, the Council's bank account and the city www.rnz.co.nz/national/pro...
