Person who rides a bike, in New Zealand. Believes we are all better off when more people ride, more often.
E-bikes are great.
But unregistered powerful electric motorbikes are different. They are a problem in the wrong hands. They are illegal on roads, trails, and paths. Police need the tools to enforce the law and reduce risk.
Tune in to Seven Sharp tonight. @cyclingactionnz.bsky.social

What the world can learn from Paris’s cycling revolution
The Paris cycling change did not happen by accident. It was driven by political will, strategic use of data, and a willingness to rethink street space.

I wonder how this would affect the NZ movie industry and workers? Are workers unionised? Would the NZ Govt continue to offer subsidies for AI content?

So much infrastructure just crams bikes and pedestrians together which really only works if there aren’t many of either. Increasing the number of folks on e-bikes highlights the problems.

“If you care about the bottom line, budgets & taxes, then you should care about urban biking, because it’s a money saver. It’s ironic when so-called fiscal conservatives attack biking, when their efforts just show a lack of understanding of math.” My interview with @modacitylife.com #CityMakingMath
Opinion: Why more urban cycling saves everyone money | Urbanized
The resulting benefits of a ‘car-less’ household are myriad, but few are as quantifiable as the money most people sink into a depreciating asset that sits unused for 95% of the time.
