“Pragmatic and somewhat buzzy”— The New York Times
Just rewatched it—the first time since I saw it in the theatre. Shows its age in spots, but marvelously cast and directed. Every movie or show made since 1983 about an eccentric town owes a lot to Bill Forsyth.
Unplug with the gentlest, funniest look at the petrochemical industry and watch Local Hero (1983)

A film featuring incredible knitwear which therefore doubles as a happy photo.

A Corny Concerto (1943) is one of my all time favorites. It hits all the right notes: great music, gorgeous artwork and Bugs in a bra. #TCMParty

Philip Roth, The Plot Against America (2004) :
“…only I cracked, alone and later in the one place in our house where I knew I could go to be apart from the living and all that they cannot not do.”

Would love to see a list of 10 weird (in the best way!) Westerns.
Certainly: Woman They Almost Lynched, No Name on the Bullet, Terror in a Texas Town and the greatest of them all, Johnny Guitar. Any others?
Saw a top 10 Westerns list in my feed, so thought I'd do one of my own.

In addition to tearing families apart and terrorizing our neighborhoods, this massive ICE presence has also been horrible for Minneapolis businesses. We need ICE to leave so our economy can get reignited.

Instead of singing “Happy Birthday” in honor of John Ford #BOTD, I have another suggestion.

Oy I’m laughing so hard. That felt good.
I’m so hardhearted that few celebrity deaths rattle me (it’s practically a game with my friends to ask if I care). But I’ve been watching O’Hara for 40 years and was known as “Margaret Meehan” among friends because of my high school quiz show past. This one’s a bummer.

I’m trying to like #REDS this time around for Diane Keaton’s sake but sheesh what a clunky movie (which is what I thought when I saw it in the theatre).

It Takes Only Five Paintings to See Helen Frankenthaler’s Genius
In a small show at MOMA, Frankenthaler seems to make paint its own living force, untouched by an artist.

Democratic members of Congress are not bound by oaths to protect sources/congregants/patients like journalists, priests, and doctors are.

If your GOP colleagues are saying privately that they decry what ICE or Trump is doing, time to name names.
