If you believe disabled and high-risk people deserve the right to access society safely, a great New Year’s resolution is to stop actively denying them that right. And bonus, you’ll get sick less.
I know masks make people's tummies feel weird, but that is the reality of the situation. I'm sorry we were told vaccines would prevent Covid, and then told that if we 𝗱𝗶𝗱 get Covid, it wouldn't hurt us. Neither of these things are true, unfortunately. Please mask in 2026! 😷 @cleanairclub.bsky.social

Here's a really easy New Year's Resolution:
If you're sick with something contagious, you will stay home if your circumstances allow.

If you can't stay home, you will mask around others until there is no possibility you are contagious.

By making these choices, you will literally save lives.

You need not remember
where you were on this day

when an emergency notice
was issued from Wuhan
regarding “pneumonia

you need not remember
where you were on that day,
but you must remember
that where you are on this day
is still in that pandemic.

Especially when you realize that this only really became a widespread opinion within the past year.
Talking with people at a holiday gathering here in Toronto last night, and when it came up, most of us nodded that we likely won’t ever visit the United States again.

It’s a weird feeling, and weird to acknowledge in a group.

As we experience a huge surge of flu cases, a reminder that the widespread usage of masks at the start of the COVID pandemic wiped out a strain of the flu.

If you haven’t been masking up lately, now would be a great time to restart.
The Covid-19 pandemic killed off one strain of the flu, and that will change the next vaccines | CNN
For 10 years, Americans have had access to flu shots that protect against four strains of the virus: two A strains and two B strains. Starting this fall, however, all the flu shots distributed in the ...

THIS. Did you know sickle cell is curable, now? FULLY curable.

If you're feeling down or despairing about what FEELS like technology/advancement/science "standing still" or being fully malicious, I have great news: You're not paying attention to actual science. Just tech industry marketing.
meanwhile.... medicine has taken INSANE leaps and bounds in the last 2 years.
we're out here curing HIV and leukemia and creating 100% efficacy vaccines against all sorts of cancers, and now this??

between this and renewable energy outstripping fossil fuels in efficiency, the future is bright
Wanna see real-life miracles? Fund scientific research.

A team of US scientists just cured Alzheimer’s in mice — and there is now hope that the disease can be reversed in humans.

I think about the scene in FIFTH ELEMENT where Zorg chokes and Bilbo Baggins calmly asks where the little machine is that can save him from this?
Also, this just in -> the latest bizarre AI fever dream is AI-controlled trivets, staplers, and coffee cups on wheels. So we'll be chased around by inanimate wheeled objects clamoring for our attention.

remember: the pandemic
is (alas) still happening.

I try not to become so bitter a person that I would wish my long covid on anyone. I don’t wish the crushing fatigue, the heart problems, the weight gain, the hair loss, inability to exercise, the shattered immune system, on anyone.

But I do fucking wish none of them could ever eat a potato again.
Disappointed to see Jon Stewart & co joke about masking in public. I do it for my medically fragile daughter (Batten Disease). People not masking properly led to her getting pneumonia, which led to her being on life support, which led to me getting price quotes on her cremation just in case.

Please read this, I cried tears of joy! Alzheimers RECOVERY may be possible, holy fucking shit. I thought even having this kind of knowledge would not be attainable in my lifetime, let alone a possible path to reversing Alzheimers. God, this is just so good. So so good!
GOOD NEWS! Researchers have shown Alzheimer’s disease can be REVERSED- not just prevented. Using a potent neuroprotective compound called P7C3-A20, they found RESTORING balance to a central cellular energy molecule (NAD+) not only PREVENTED disease features but REVERSED them, EVEN at late stages.

Remember, masks aren’t just for Covid!

They also help protect against colds, flu, measles, RSV and more.

They guard against pollution, wild fire smoke and pollen.

A well fitted respirator can keep you healthy while also protecting those around you.

It’s radical community care.
