EVs are one their way to take a huge bite out of global oil demand by 2030 – 5m to 8m barrels of oil per day, and rising fast. 5m barrels/ day is about the entire current oil consumption of Japan

Weakening growth in demand for oil and gas is already having geopolitical consequences. When oil goes ex-growth, all hell will break loose - and all heaven too. Expect some highly non-linear decades.
NEW: Small-scale protests demanding that the Iranian government address the devaluation of the Iranian rial and high inflation rates have continued for the second consecutive day in Tehran and Hamadan City, western Iran, on December 29 amid a rapid collapse of the Iranian currency. 🧵(1/6)

Danemark went from 10 to 90% BEV market share in 4 years… It shows that the discussions around the 2035 phase out are a bit silly and transition can happen a lot faster than most people think.
🇩🇰 Denmark (Private) - November 25 - BEV Trajectory
90.9% BEV
1.6% PHEV
7.5% ICE

Trailing 12 months are:
84.2% BEV
2.7% PHEV
13.1% ICE

This is a really good point that I had not run into before: these "creators" have no further insight into their alleged creation than the average audience member and that is why it cannot be called art (besides all the other obvious reasons).

The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

Dog-whistle and factually incorrect. Ladies, raise your hand if you were sexually assaulted by a boy at school? I’d wager this or a family member is most women’s first experience of sexual violence

🚜 #Farmers (lobby) is overdoing it. They got CAP 'simplification' (killing environmental conditionalities). They receive subsidies from taxpayers money. The sector is producing emissions (livestock) & killing biodiversity. And still, because they've tractors they think they can blackmail politics!

Frankly, I believe in 2035 nobody will buy a new gas car:
- EVs will be considerably cheaper to run *and* buy
- lots of charging stations will exist, the charging tariff jungle (hopefully) straighted out
- gas prices will go through the roof bc of EUETS2.

And still, car companies can go electric.

This is the key point -> “. If western car brands want to have any chance of competing in China and emerging markets that are going electric fast, they need a strong home market.”

And currently the European EV market is actually dominated by European manufacturers.

Don’t ruin a good thing.
The EU’s 2035 target IS the certainty that the industry needs.

Some car executives suggest a return to the combustion engine will restore Europe’s competitiveness.
