In case anyone still doubts it: annual EV sales jumped from ~3M to ~20.7M in just five years. The tech improves every year and disruption is fully underway. EVs now represent ~25% of global car sales. This isn’t a fad — it’s scale. We’ve barely begun. #EnergyTransition #EVs #Lithium #LFP

Currently it looks like Australia may be one of the markets that will keep PHEV the longest.

In Australia, mostly Petrol is tanking due to EVs

Australia hasn't really slowed down BEV transition anymore recently. However, the disparity between ICE and BEV times has increased, making room for interim PHEV

The market in Austria splits surprisingly even at the moment. This will not be the case long term of course, we can observe this in other regions already.
January 14, 2026 at 4:48 PM
Austria is still in deceleration territory. No acceleration in the BEV trajectory visible yet like is already the case elsewhere.

This is what the transition from ICE to BEV via PHEV looked like for private people.
They're done now. Only a few cars in the Industry left.

Please note how PHEV fell off a cliff at some point. That may be a systematic thing we could see elsewhere in the future, not sure yet.
