Today’s major projects list signals progress toward a #CleanEconomy — but some will drive big emissions.

Great to see electricity infrastructure buildout + #LowCarbon critical mineral development – but LNG remains risky…

What did you think? #cdnpoli

Having a fantastic time at the Alberta Municipalities convention in Calgary.

Good conversation this morning with some new & returning African/Caribbean/Black councillors from across the province.

Wonderful to see the diversity of our province being reflected in local government! #ableg

Cyclists may be right to run stop signs and red lights. Here’s why
Should cyclists be allowed to treat stop signs as yield signs? This rule from Idaho is divisive, but the scientific data is surprising.

There were once dreams of eradicating measles - I remember discussion on it in my MSc epi class.
The loss of progress on measles is not only a health loss for kids (measles can be disabling & deadly), it’s also a massive economic loss.

We save billions/yr not having to vaccinate & treat smallpox.

Mike here committing the unpardonable sin of taking the words "housing is a human right" seriously when the people who use those words don't actually mean it to be taken seriously.
New MMI piece: We look at the 3.5 million people in Canada who live in a home that is too small to meet their needs, and how a mismanaged push by governments and urban planners towards densification is at odds with the human right to housing.

Just one nugget from this excellent & important article, for all Canadians.
“Rather than seeing alternative arguments as quality control, members learn to treat them as obstacles.”
What's at the root of the UCP's use of the notwithstanding clause?

Our @partyloyalty.bsky.social research suggests hyperpartisanship is playing a huge role.

The locker room mentality in the UCP caucus is encouraging MLAs to cede even more power to the premier's office.

That's bad for democracy.

Canada has lost its measles elimination status today. Undoubtedly, part of this is because of misinformation.

But it does not explain the whole story here, and simply attributing this public heath failure to misinformation absolves those in power of their contributing role.

By the measure, the projected deficit for 2025-2026 (2.5%) would be would be smaller than 2020-2021 (14.1), 2021-2022 (3.2) and 2009-2010 (3.1).
