I admit, I get a little tired of being told that the rise of fascism is the fault of everybody except the people who voted enthusiastically for fascism, argue for fascism right now, and only regret fascism when they take splash damage from all the fascism they wanted.

One thing savvy media/political consultants have not yet figured out is that a checkmark on X indicates that a person makes a monthly donation to a CSAM site.

"But but X gave us the checkmark because—" bzzt wrong, no way for anyone to know that. What they know is you subsidize CSAM.

Art doesn’t get censored because it might make people immoral or violent. It gets censored because it might make them realize that there are different ways to live than the prescribed hegemony crammed down our throats
A key point in Fahrenheit 451 is that books were banned because they made people depressed and uncomfortable. The novel's protagonist, Montag, is taken into custody after he reads a poem that makes a woman cry because she realizes the emptiness of her life.

we don't have jetpacks because we stopped dreaming about jetpacks.

In the wake of permanent bans please remember that Link was banned because he embarrassed the CEO of Bluesky while Black; this was his entire crime. They justified it after the fact with hyper flimsy bullshit and spend a lot of time calling his friends dorks and losers to this day.

those at the top have made clear that they don’t care about laws, only power, while those wanting to organize against them remain restricted by the law.

one has realized its ability to do what it wants without anyone to tell it otherwise, while the other only has people/systems restricting it.
