I had one of those funny writing moments, where I half-remembered a cultural reference, looked it up and found my brain had fudged it... then I had to decide if the CHARACTER should remember it correctly or not.

A Duty Undone, A Soul Recalled
I wake disoriented. For a moment I wonder if my memories - collecting the crystals, receiving the gods’ power, and sealing the Grasping One - were merely a wild dream.

CW for a violent mental breakdown.
This was a tricky one to write. While I'm on meds to help me not hurt people, I've fortunately avoided episodes like this - though looking back, I think there were close calls/lucky misses.

Just the word "generate" is soul-destroying. She doesn't write books, she "generates" them, like some sort of Lovecraftian horror squatting in a dank basement somewhere and birthing them one after another from its dread orifices. Nobody wants them, nobody asked for them, but they are generated.

YES. It drives me nuts when people tell me I'm talented, they've discounted all the hard work I did to get to this point. 5% a knack and 95% having no life

This quote I recently read in James Clear's newsletter sums it up: "The real talent is being obsessed with the thing."
