This scene is not looked at closely enough by people I think. As Han shows his son continued unconditional love even as he has just been pierced by his blade, Ben for a moment looks remorseful over what he has just done. That’s the incredible thing that happens here.

Something I also want to say is that I wrote a “what happens next” little one-shot fic while TFA was still in theaters where Luke’s first words to Rey were “No,” and he handed the lightsaber back to her and walked away. It seemed obvious! Idk if I can find it.

I was a 2015 Reylo but I was fully prepared at that time for them to turn out to be siblings because I expected them to write the more predictable thing. I was delighted when TLJ leaned into them being totally unrelated and built up their relationship to potentially be romantic!

the forbes article about how "willow" was (relatively) cheap makes me think another point going on here is lucasfilm spending years as the d+ show production company, then when they had an internal film they wanted to make, the suits didn't allow it. rule of "one for them, one for me" broken.
developing a theory that kennedy's last act is working the press (among other things) to embarrass disney mismanagement so they capitulate to giving them more autonomy
