They are literally worried about the opinions of robots and it’s infuriating

This film will probably be the worst of the saga forevermore. There's no fixing it or retconning it. But despite that, there's still ways to put a band-aid on the wound. Y'know what I'm about to say?

The tragedy of his arc in TLJ is that this is now his chosen identity. He comes to realize that he doesn’t need to be defined by his blood legacy (Vader)…he can be his own person…but in his own mind that person is an unforgivable monster. It’s who he thinks he is “meant to be.”

If you have really studied this scene, it is in no way a surprise when in TLJ Snoke can literally feel that doing this has only made Ben even more conflicted than he already was. “Kylo” is a facade. He’s forcing himself to be that persona. It is not something he has fallen into.

And you know my point here isn’t that I’m some genius who can perfectly predict stories…it’s that the Luke aspect of TLJ was in no way a contradiction of TFA. It fit with it just fine. It made sense. TFA never tells you to expect otherwise!

And so that was not something that ever really shocked me in TLJ…it shocked me in TFA instead. I just wanted to know what specifically happened that made him so depressed.

Because why would he be hiding on an island if he wanted to be involved? It didn’t make any sense. He also looked really upset to see her to me. Look at that face! That is NOT the face of someone who wants to see that lightsaber handed to him!
