Also, even though she's not here much, massive shoutout to @laurenthomanwrites.com who was canvassing everyday for @aftynbehn.bsky.social over the past few weeks. A great way to thank Lauren is to buy one of her books. bookshop.org/lists/books-...
Which means we have the obligation to make every single one of those seats as competitive as possible. These are not longshots, and they’re not a waste of time to fight for.

Also, based on anonymous insiders that have been talking to the likes of Punchbowl News,

it's so funny to see America's health insurance companies be like "look. If there's one thing we love it's denying you care. but we ran the numbers - and we cannot BELIEVE we're saying this - and it's cheaper for us to just pay for the vaccines than deal with you going to the ER."
Regardless of the disgraceful nonsense we will likely hear from this administration in the coming days on vaccine “recommendations,” Americas healthcare insurers issued a joint statement tonight saying coverage for Covid and flu shots will remain unchanged from prior years.

Speaks for itself.

TIL that for some people with irreparably damaged corneas, you can pull one of their teeth, drill a hole in it, install an artificial lens, sew it into their cheek (so tissue attaches), then pull it out and stick it in their damaged eye, and ... it works fine!?! www.nbcboston.com/news/health/...
Man, 34, is no longer blind after tooth is implanted in eye in 'crazy' surgery
Tooth-in-eye surgery sounds like science fiction, but it can help people with severely damaged corneas see again. A patient and his doctors describe what it's like.

Headed home from my first ever #DragonCon exhausted but happy. So much fun hanging with friends, meeting new ones, and getting to talk about books and stories and characters with passionate and talented people. If we hung out at all or if you enjoyed any of my panels, don’t be a stranger!

I kept blaming Mondays for my struggle to hit my word count targets at the beginning of each week, but then I remembered the genocide and fascism and robots and our melting brains and the crumbling climate and the death of democracy and was forced to concede that the problem *may* not be Mondays

GOOD. The fact that this actually had to be spelled out like this is wild, but I’m glad at least one state finally did.

2. When you have this much money, your accountant/financial folks are already making you as tax efficient as possible.

The right-wing backlash against #Superman this week got me thinking: Has this happened before?

That led to the discovery of these headline — from April 1940, when the official newspaper of the SS took umbrage at the comic book hero and ridiculed its creators.

Striking that Fry was a friend who genuinely tried to give JKR the benefit of the doubt--like we're always being told to do--but in the end was like "ew, no".

In some ways, that's a more persuasive testimony than someone who naturally disagreed from the get go.

I grew up going to the same high school as the country club kids. Some of my friends lived in those country clubs. I used to know the gate guy at one of them 'cause I spent so much time at that friend's house. racism is in their bones. even the ones who have learned to parrot progressive language.
i use the country club comparison a lot for dems, as it covers many angles. rich? yes. do white collar crime? yes. stupid as hell? yes, all simultaneously. just like people in country clubs.

and just like people in country clubs boy do they fucking hate the riffraff talking back to them.

I enjoyed The Handmaid’s Tale, mostly, but the persistent wyt feminist individualist perspective graaaaated on me.

History exists. It would’ve been great if the show ever acknowledged that.

Anyway I wrote about it for @thewrap.com www.thewrap.com/the-handmaid...

Yes, because literally the ONLY THING ChatGPT and other LLMs are trained to do is sound reasonable.

Not analyze.
Not fact check.
Not research.
Not even ADD.

Just give responses that *sound* reasonable to folks who don’t know better
