I wanted to share this @daveholmes.bsky.social tribute to James Van Der Beek.

I knew James too. Dave captures him perfectly. He was funny as hell but kind and decent to his core.

A truly great father, above all. He put a lot of love into this world.
James Van Der Beek Was Every Bit the Man He Appeared On Screen
The actor, who made his name as a thinking man's heartthrob in 'Dawson's Creek' and 'Varsity Blues,' died today at the age of 48.

Gregory Bovino has been dismissed in disgrace, but history will not forget the Border Patrol commander.

He marched smugly through Minneapolis as ICE ran roughshod over the city in reckless pursuit of the undocumented, killing two protesters and terrorizing a nation.

How did he get this way?

When immigration crackdown boss Gregory Bovino was 11, two things happened:

His father killed a woman, plunging the family into despair and chaos.

And he saw a Jack Nicholson movie that he says made him want to join the border patrol.

What was in that movie—and how did he get it all wrong?
Gregory Bovino Was Formed by a Jack Nicholson Movie. If Only He Heeded Its Lesson.
The disgraced commander says 1982’s ‘The Border’ led him to pursue a career in border patrol. Like so many other things in his now-infamous career, he got it all wrong.

Can we stop speculating about who is "on Ozempic" or "having work done"?

There were many stories about Catherine O’Hara from the Emmys in September. "She displayed a noticeably leaner frame."

A sad lesson in being more humane. You may not know what someone is really going through.

My tribute to Catherine O'Hara.

She was truly one of a kind. Even when she played dumb, she was a genius.
There Was No One In the World Like Catherine O’Hara
The late comedic actress was a mastermind in total control. That’s why it was so fun to see her characters fall to pieces.

No … no no.

This is too heartbreaking. Catherine O’Hara is too brilliant to lose.

This really hurts.

It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.

ICE arrested and deported a 5-year-old American child, among all their other cruel and idiotic fuck-ups.

They are not going after dangerous criminals. That would be hard, and require brains.

When America gets honorable leaders again, we must take a bulldozer to this organization and start over.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II really is a man for all seasons.

We talked about Wonder Man, his superhero Hollywood satire for #Marvel, and Man on Fire, his upcoming Netflix action series.

But also … when should you toss your whole life away and start over? 🤔

He did it once.
Might do it again…

Before he became an actor, the 'Man on Fire' and 'Wonder Man' star was an architect who threw it all away and started over. Now he's leading Marvel’s most unusual show yet.
