There were as many cyclists over the Queensboro Bridge today as there were cars and trucks. Even when it’s hot as hell, we cyclists make our own breeze 🌬️

We did it! Many years of activism came to fruition today as the #MoreSpaceQBB south outer roadway was finally repurposed as a pedestrian-only path. People can now walk and jog across safely. You can even walk side-by-side!!

The warm weather yields brand new bike riders on 34 Ave Open Streets every day! He came to one of our classes but it was his big sister’s dogged persistence & cheer leading that did it!

Bicycling gives kids a taste of independence & a sense of accomplishment. Great to see!

No more delays! Safe space for pedestrians on the Queensboro Bridge has been delayed for one reason or another year after year. Now the fence is up, the signs are changed, and the south outer roadway is ready for pedestrians! The only thing left is for Mayor Adams to stop blocking pedestrians! 🧑‍🦯🏃‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Community boards influence what actually happens on the ground in NYC. I joined my CB promote transportation equity in Northeast Queens and helped get several miles of bike lanes in our area. I’ve also advocated in favor of a homeless shelter. I strongly encourage other people to join their CB.

This is a small, no brainer step to save lives. The city knows dooring is a leading cause of bike injury & has killed a # of cyclists.

TLC distributes these decals but doesn't require them.

A city actually practicing "vision zero" would have required them long ago @streetspac.org
Looks like the long-lingering bill (Intro 193) to require anti-dooring decals in all taxis & ubers will finally see light of day at a Council hearing Feb 10!

Thanks again to all bill co-sponsors & special ❤️ to bill author

#Daylighting has two meanings:

1. removing parked cars from intersection corners
2. uncovering buried rivers and streams

Eastern Queens should join the Bronx and Yonkers in the latter.

THANK YOU for everything you’ve done. Stay tuned for what’s next!

If the @nyc-dot.bsky.social doesn't like this, is worried about it slowing down safety projects, then they should aggressively back Intro 1138 for universal daylighting in NYC. If universal daylighting is the law, a whole lot of curb space isn't technically "parking" anymore. @jehiah.cz

THANK YOU to Council Member Julie Won for voting NO on both of these bad bills in committee!

Now we need ALL NYC Council Members to vote NO at the stated meeting. A safer, more equitable future for our city is at stake.

☎️CALL YOUR COUNCIL MEMBER ASAP!
City Council is considering two new bills that will make it much harder to fight for safer streets, better biking, and more public space.

Here’s what you need to know and how to fight back.

🚨 EVERYONE: Email & Call YOUR Council Member TONIGHT (leave a voicemail) and urge them to vote NO on both of these bills! #bikenyc
