I would put A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell up there, and maybe also Madame Fourcade's Secret War by Lynne Olson. I still think about Mme Fourcade more regularly, but my Goodreads claims I liked AWONI more 😅
Ok BlueSky: what are your favorite history books in terms of sheer page-turning, narrative propulsion? Thinking along the line of Killers of the Flower Moon, etc. Nonfiction chronicles that read like novels or movies.

I've seen all 1,080 episodes of Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, and many of them a truly upsetting amount of times, and I'm pretty sure I am more qualified to prosecute a criminal trial than Lindsey Halligan.

I've seen all 1,080 episodes of Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, and many of them a truly upsetting amount of times, and I'm pretty sure I am more qualified to prosecute a criminal trial than Lindsey Halligan.
And these limited ACA benefits don't do anything when the premiums are going up, like mine, by thousands of dollars. Keeping the subsidies is literally the bare minimum they can do since they won't actually attempt to regulate the health insurance industry.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

The White Stripes entering the Rock Hall makes me field unspeakably old, but they are probably also the first inductee where I remember the first time I encountered them, around when they were hitting it big, and knew they would BE big.

If I remember correctly... there was an initial period where you were paying list release price (the $22.99 or so), and then there were sort of dependable cost decreases after a time? Like I had a lot of VHS tapes but almost never the hot new thing because we waited for the price to go down.

I just saw an ad for the Muppet Christmas Carol VHS tape (I presume 1993). It said $22.99.
Did people really pay $23 in 90s money for tapes?! (We were poor, we only had a few and some probably bootlegged ones.)

I guess my follow up question here is: is this why the food and the service is actually good again? Because we've seen noticeable improvements in our Chipotle experience in the last two months or so over the couple years prior.

We had to do a free trial of Fox One to watch the ALCS game, and it's showing us very 'Merica-coded doomsday prepper food commercials and like... I just want baseball.

The thing I liked most about that weird play in the NLCS game is that that happened once in our rec softball game, and I was Will Smith. Makes me feel better to see him make the same stupid mistake 😂
