pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

But seriously, The City We Became is a great book.
Apparently all you needed to do to predict the NYC election results was read that one N.K. Jemisin novel.

I had nearly forgotten what this sense of hope feels like. Thank you NYC, VA, PA, and everywhere else that did the thing. Let's keep it going.

The summer of 1999, at the age of 20, I used one of these to drive from San Antonio, TX to Lake Como, PA and back.
Have to go to AAA before my road trip.

I have near-perfect conversational memory. If we talked about something, I WILL remember what was said*. This also extends to things that feel conversational. My brain will (can?) not delete certain podcast episodes I've listened to.

*Alcohol is the kryptonite to this power.
I wanna try something!

ppl are often surprised at my ability to sound like a native even if I don't understand the language, and I've always said that's my superpower!

Now be it always successfully opening jars or falling asleep in under 5 minutes no matter what..

what is your silly superpower?

With the caveat that I understand this type of humor doesn't work for everyone (and there's no need to tell me if that's the case for you), episodes of The Goes Wrong Show are now available on YouTube and I think you should try it. I love the humor. The stage design in some of them is AMAZING.

Sutton Foster & Kelli O'Hara
Aida Cuevas
Weird Al Yankovic
Leslie Odom Jr.
Pentatonix
Introduce yourself with the last five concerts you saw:

The Rose
Monsta X
J-Hope
Rocket Club

This skews Kpop but only 2 are in person and that's cuz I haven't wanted to go to many in person concerts since 2020 and Kpop is so good at streaming.
Introduce yourself with the last five concerts you saw:
(gonna work backwards here)
Marc Rebillet
TXT
Mountain Goats

Picked up a Lindt Dubai Chocolate bar on the last grocery run. Had 2 squares from it tonight. It's kinda like a fancy Nestle Crunch or Krackle? Enjoyed it, but I don't think I was worth the splurge ($14.99 for the big bar).

Okay. Now do it as "a short, single-stranded nucleic acid used in the initiation of DNA synthesis."
Here’s a primer on ‘primer.’

It’s pronounced ‘PRIMM-er’ if you mean “a small book” or “a short informative piece of writing.”

It’s pronounced ‘PRY-mer’ if you mean “an initial coat of paint.”

My library now has several L.A. Theatre Works full cast recordings! Of course I started with the plays I did scenes from in THAR 101 in undergrad.

I recall a shockingly large amount of the "don't hang back with the brutes" monologue (given I memorized in spring 1998 and haven't performed it since).
