Meanwhile on Threads: @juliamacfarlane.bsky.social had the absolute laziest, tired trope about “knitting is a granny hobby”
and got so roasted she turned off all her comments, reposts, and mentions. (TIL you can do that on Threads)
Now she is crying that knitters are mean. 😂

I went to Denmark to meet the Beyoncé of knitting - Petiteknit. Why are so many new generations suddenly discovering knitting - and other so-called “granny hobbies”? Turns out, people are finding it ...

I think the President of the US responding to a question about the murder of a journalist with "A lot of people didn't like that gentleman" is probably pretty bad.

A primer
Yes, everyone who is fighting fascism needs to be united in fighting fascism.

But the need to be united to fight fascism is the opposite of being united with people folding to fascism.

You too can move on from electoral politics. Release the farce and play acting. Put your energies into helping each other and building new systems of care. I believe in the people, not politicians.

Read this thread. This is what @katmabu.bsky.social was protesting, and why she repeatedly says getting beaten up by ICE outside is nothing compared to the torture and crimes being committed inside Broadview. These thugs must be held to account.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

I know this based on my annual rewatch of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
"Kith" is the word to describe people who you are close to (friends, neighbors) who are not necessarily related to you genetically. Thus the phrase, "kith and kin." And yeah, a lot of them you might call "aunt(ie)" or "uncle" or "cousin."
That's exactly what I grew up with. Kin and people not our kin but that were close to our family were always called "auntie" or "uncle" [name].

I’ve set up a recurring donation with mine. Even $5 a month can help a lot—usually way more than we, who don’t buy in bulk, could buy in equivalent.
Feeding America has a page where you can input your zip code and it'll show you all of the food banks near you overlaid on a map. If you need it, it's there. If you don't need it, think about donating money if you have it and your time if you don't.

Last month, our community pantry reported that the number of people served basically doubled. That was before the shutdown and now SNAP benefits expiring. If you can, support your local food bank with money so they can buy food wholesale

As other people have noted, if you have local food banks, now would be an excellent time to donate cash to them, if you have the cash to spare. We will be upping our donations to food banks and hunger-related charities here in Ohio.

Hey, so another piece of advice for people who are S-Corps: there is a company called Opolis that acts as your employer of record and will provide health insurance and other benefits.
If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.
