📣New preprint from the lab👇. Human adult immature neurons, hippocampal fitness & cognitive resilience to Alzheimer’s🧠🌷. Excited to receive feedback & grateful for this important milestone for our mighty team who started from scratch 4 years ago 💜🎈
Beyond proud and grateful.. Giorgia, our supernova, and 1 of the first 2 PhDs of our small but mighty team. An exceptional scientist and human, who taught me a lot and helped me grow both as a scientist and as a supervisor. This is not a goodbye, it's an arrivederci 💜. Congratulations, Dr. Tosoni 🧑‍🎓🧠

Important perspective on a fascinating study from the Frisén group, which used machine learning to identify neural progenitors in the adult human brain, a fresh lens on a long-standing debate 💥
Always exciting to see this field evolve, and grateful to be part of it @labsalta.bsky.social

We've learned a lot more about the principal drivers of age-related diseases in the past few weeks. And the leads to a unified model to put it all together. (open-access)

Thanks so much, this is really precious!!🙏
We also have available a larger spatial-seq data set that covers the anatomical extent of the HPC, with paired snRNA-seq data - this just in neurotypical adults (no development/aging) in case it is useful!

Congrats on your preprint!

Fully agree! And having more (open access) datasets like this one will be key to cross-validating our observations across independent cohorts and different platforms. We've already been taking a deep dive into this unique ST interface! libd.shinyapps.io/Lifespan_DG/

Together, results from ours and these recent studies highlight the importance of conducting analyses that investigate the process of adult neurogenesis and GC maturation in different species to understand functions for these neurons and whether they are a relevant target for human health and disease
