she/her. exvangelical still-kinda-Christian. always becoming.
Hello Bluesky folks, I need some help. I’m writing an exvangelical memoir & I have a formatting idea that involves going deep into the abyss of Christianese. If you grew up evangelical, will you give me a word/phrase (& maybe its definition) from that world? Thank you ☺️

Our pressure worked: The State Department has finally issued guidance for how individuals can proceed after a federal judge blocked President Trump's anti-trans passport policy.

If you or your loved ones are affected by this policy, we're here with more information.

WE ALREADY HAVE THESE. THEY ARE CALLED PRISONS.

And it is directly the fault of the media for ignoring the deep injustice of our prison system for decades that led to these escalations.

People have been calling for abolition for decades for a reason.
Are We About to Have Labor Camps in the United States of America?
If you think that’s far-fetched, then you really haven’t been paying attention to what the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress have been up to lately.

I've seen folks talk about how "in four years" they'll be able to get back to their planned projects and I really don't think that's going to work out. People & projects losing funding now will not be able to hit pause and come back once funding is restored. Hard-won progress & capacity will be lost
I worry that not enough of a big deal is being made about how long-term the devastation of these budget cuts to our scientific and health agencies will be, beyond the absolute ruin they will cause in the acute period.

I love my little suburb. Yesterday I started going to a massage therapist who’s been listening to me sing while I walk by her house for years. Tonight I went out to get ice cream & ran into a neighbor on the way home & just chatted on the side of the street for 20 minutes while my ice cream melted.

Something tells me the NYT would be able to muster more outrage if Hillary Clinton or Hunter Biden—neither of whose are in any office!—accepted a jumbo jet from the Qataris.
This isn’t a good idea even if the plane was being donated to the U.S. government. But Trump GETS TO KEEP THE PLANE??? It’s simply a cash payment to Trump in exchange for favors. Just wildly illegal.

covid threw into high relief how many working class people are absolutely necessary to keeping society functional, and rather than that sparking a renewed commitment to an economy that rewards such workers, we've seen an elite backlash against even modest increases in their market power

Literally all of my friends from my youth are coming out as queer & wow my own queerness makes so much sense to me now, the call was coming from inside the house

Hey queer Christians idk who needs to hear this but you don’t have to be friends with every other queer Christian. Some of them are assholes.

Went to a shoe store today and asked an employee if they had the shoes I was looking at in a 9. She checked the back & then came out & said “no I don’t have that, would you be okay with a size 6?” With all due respect ma’am why the fuck would I want a shoe 3 full sizes too small?

We really need to talk about the amount of privilege it takes to be advertising your international destination writing retreat during a time when people are being denied accurate travel documents or having their phones searched for “unacceptable” political content when they travel

A customer this morning asked me about my Death Cab for Cutie t shirt then started talking about a different musician then said “wait you were born in what, the 70s?”

…so I guess I’m 50 now…

I broke up with my best friend a year & a half ago. Apparently she just got married. When we were still friends, I was going to be in that wedding as she had been in mine. Grief is weird.

Me shopping for a backpack because I have finally accepted that I carry too much shit in my purse and it is destroying my shoulders: “Ok it can fit my laptop, wallet, water bottle, & a book but does it also have the capacity to be my go bag if I need to leave the country?”

Update: Last week they said 1 month. 2 days ago they brought a hospital bed into her home & told my father she probably has 2 weeks at the most. Last night we went to see her for what may have been the last time.

Again, please pray for my dad.
My dad’s partner is in hospice.

A week ago they said she had 3-4 months.
Today they said 1 month.

If you’re the praying type, please pray for my dad.

Tarot has long been an integral tool in my writing and life but I have to give a shout out to @megjoneswall.bsky.social for always bringing community into an otherwise personal practice. This latest workbook has everything I love about her approach & vindicates my own minor-arcana-heavy practice 🖤
