A belated intro post! I write poetry and dark romantic fantasy informed by nature, magic, science, music, queerness, and life with chronic illness (MS, depression). I’m also a visual artist; my familiar is a frequent muse. 🐈‍⬛ Some sample pages from my novel & poetry debuts:
My budget only allows so much vinyl but this was one I knew I had to have & it’s the prize of my collection. Every time I hear this label streaming on BBC (& it happens often!) I’m so proud to be a midwesterner. Cheers @intlanthem.bsky.social & here’s to another 10 years of groundbreaking music!

Today’s unexpected mission: finding a new home for my novelette “Away From the Machine”. By making that story open-access I was thinking of *human* creators/collaborators… 🤦
Well that’s me deleting my #Soundcloud account this weekend
Absolutely insane story developing in real time right now: SoundCloud updated its TOS to allow AI to train on EVERYTHING ANYONE UPLOADS, and its users are just finding out now.

If you’re celebrating Independent Bookstore Day today, both of my books are available at Bookshop.org or you can order them through your most beloved indie bookseller! I hear the unholy A-Z is running its own book sale today but we are far too smart to fall for that ☺️ bookshop.org/contributors...

I’d add to “supporter” “& tacit accomplice.” As a progressive human I struggle to find anything to say to my Republican representative about the current attacks on our rights that won’t make him think “Mission accomplished!” But there are 20,000 #MSwarriors in Wisconsin and all those people vote!
I hold each & every trump supporter responsible for the deficit they have placed on this continued research. Research that could spare me & the million others in the US with multiple sclerosis from the devastating effects of this disease.

Tarot has long been an integral tool in my writing and life but I have to give a shout out to @megjoneswall.bsky.social for always bringing community into an otherwise personal practice. This latest workbook has everything I love about her approach & vindicates my own minor-arcana-heavy practice 🖤
(psssssst: if you're like "but meg, none of my skills are useful to the collapse of empire and the reimagining of a new world" — first of all that definitely isn't true, and second of all i have a new thing that can help)

Thanks to @publicdomainrev.bsky.social we can all enjoy the obsessive entomological genius of Ladislas Starevich! My late mate and I were so lucky to see this classic several years ago with the Hot Club of San Francisco playing a live score… 🦗🪲✨ publicdomainreview.org/collection/c...

I’m glad too. And frustrated on yet another level by the dark ages we’re being sent back to. One of the first things I’d investigate is how many cases of adenomyosis feature a severe reaction to hormonal BC cuz I’ve been there. This article is definitely refueling my fight for answers.
I’m so glad USA Today covered adenomyosis. I struggled with this “silent disease” for decades. It caused my infertility and because I had go on hormonal birth control (which contributed to my DVTs) it nearly killed me. We need better treatments, even as Trump/DOGE is killing uterine health research.
Adenomyosis, the 'silent illness' plaguing their lives, goes undiagnosed for decades
This 'silent disease' plagued these women's lives for decades. One woman lost her dream job. For another, the diagnosis came after her hysterectomy.

I probably follow more photography accounts here than anything else & as a devotee of storms have to say my favorite is @lorigrace.bsky.social. Wishing all the chasers a stellar season!⛈️
I deleted my Twitter account with 40K followers. I'm posting less and less on Meta's FB, IG and Threads. BlueSky is where I'm sharing more of my best, prettiest, hardest works now. I feel a peace here and in storms like you see below.

Added 6 new albums to my collection this #bandcampfriday & the absolute highlight was the listening party for this release. Thank you @alabasterdeplume.bsky.social & @intlanthem.bsky.social —without going into the griefspace I’ve been existing in, everything about this music is balm. 🙏🏻

Gods & ghosts, what a high bar @porkbellypress.bsky.social sets for micropresses! Just 👀 this hyperpersonalized package presentation! They had me at hand-stitched, but these books (@robertokaji.bsky.social’s “Texas Flood” & Tina Mozelle Braziel’s “Rooted by Thirst”) are literal enchantment.

A beautiful review of ‘the Beast’ has made it to World Literature Today and I’m just speechless. This is a journal you pretty much need an institutional subscription to and my prime objective is to get the book into as many #LIBRARIES as I can, so I fervently hope it catches the right readers!

Kindness. Gentleness. Empathy.

These things are fires shining in the forest night.
They must be tended,
but in tending them we are illuminated.

We become a target for things that thrive in darkness.

So, as ever, love is risk.
And, as ever,
worth the danger.
