A trans teen in Iowa completed suicide after severe bullying by classmates and teachers.

"Miles’ death came a day after a substitute teacher refused to use his preferred pronouns."

It's the type of bullying @thefireorg.bsky.social and @aricohn.com support.

What should my next nonfiction audiobook listen be? I was just gonna scroll my storygraph and pick something randomly but I’ll also accept suggestions.

Just finished the audiobook for @jacobsilverman.com’s Gilded Rage and it was amazing! I went into it with no expectations but it was interesting and way more leftist than I expected (no offense to Jacob, I was unaware of his game).

Marketers are clocking how bots tend to amplify existing sentiments bc that’s easiest for them to do.

So a flood of bot posts can make it difficult to evaluate the scale of positive reactions compared to negative ones.

True for brands, as well as readers.

Will bots end social listening as we know it?
AI-driven bot networks are growing and weighing in on everything from Cracker Barrel to Tylenol, forcing marketers to parse real consumer insights from fake.

Pointing out hypocrisy does not work in terms of accountability but it can help illustrate an important point: it has never been about principles and has always been about power
pointing out the rights hypocrisy about freedom of speech doesn’t really do too much but i honestly am just stunned how blatantly and quickly they reversed on pretty much every constitutional freedom the moment they gained full power

A big part of what makes online culture what it is, from the very start and across the ‘net, is the performance/improv/yes, and/trolling/gaminess of playing make-believe with other people. So of course that’s baked into everything from the new religious movements, to the politics, to the violence.

I'll say it over and over.

I do not believe in gate keeping.

I do not believe in pulling up the ladder.

I believe in kicking the wall down like the Kool-Aid man, and making room as I go for those who come next.

Just because it was hard for me, doesn't mean it has to be hard for anyone else.
