Like you see this all around now: "Oh man, if they did a sequel series to an old cult show NOW it'd just be like the original guys coming back as old men LOL LOL consoom product" and ...they did that THEN!!! And at the time it was the MUCH BIGGER half of the property!!! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

It feels weird for people to be wistfully framing "STAR TREK: TNG" as 'the era era when franchise IP didn't need to be built on nostalgia callbacks!' when before during and after its run the TOS crew were headlining a *SIX FILM THEATRICAL BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE SERIES*

Nacho Vigalondo is a master and this movie whips ass. If you've never seen it, you're missing out on one of the best delightfully weird gems of the 2010's.

Nerds trying to get you to watch their favorite TV show:
"It doesn't get going until season 4, and season 2 is actually kinda slow, but season 6 makes it totally worth it."

Nerds when a new TV show comes out:
"The first episode didn't meet my impossibly lofty expectations, cancel it."

...because I'm gonna guess "Please visit the WordPress site and YouTube Channel where we've tried in vain to collect my 20 year backlog of work in this collapsing business" ain't gonna cut it 🤣

Remember the feeling of discovering stuff like this in the wild?

Like, you'd have no idea something like this existed. You'd just go to an arcade and *BOOM* Simpson's Game. TMNT. TMNT 2. Spider-Man. Ect, ect...

Fellow writers/directors/producers: It is vitally important not only to secure the ladder behind you while you ascend, but also to make sure there are many women on it as well. Mentorship without strings is essential and there are so few real opportunities for women...because of this exact problem.
the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

This is the quote he's referring to and damned if every one of us who's worked in traditional tv prior to the streaming era isn't silently screaming in frustration right now. TV worked perfectly well before everyone tried to become GoT

That's not even me saying I *like* the sound of it, it's essentially weaponizing "Millennial Entitlement" as a political identity. But it would work.

Whether it's true or fair or even deliverable; "America made a promise of _____ to you, it was delayed/denied, but that denial stops NOW and you're getting what you're owed" would be a *powerful* message for any figure to run on if they can find a way to do so.

The other, unspoken, half of the "Morning again in America" pitch was "This was the way TV/movies told you like was supposed to be when you were young, 'something' kept it from you, but NOW we're back on track and you're finallly going to get it!"

Well, for one thing, I didn't use a TV show that never resembled anything close to the actual city it was supposedly set in as the point of reference by accident 😉

Nobody really wants to go back to a reality. They want their memories and dreams to come forward to them.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released 18 years ago for the Nintendo Wii!
That was definitely my most-anticipated game as a kid and I still remember the day we got it 🥰

The main theme by Nobuo Uematsu is iconic!

I know that the popular reference is "Her job was to kill the program" and there's likely some truth in it; but the bigger truism generally is that thus far the Ellisons are actually REALLY BAD at just "running a media company," too.

Obviously, it happened that way because people couldn't avoid derailing into the tired fake argument about "Video game violence!" instead of the very REAL and meaningful argument about propaganda and messaging.

Oliver North played himself in a 'CALL OF DUTY' game. Remember that?

It's ancient history now, but there WERE game critics at the very *beginning* of the generational changeover of "grey/brown military FPS like Call of Duty" becoming THE dominant gaming genre in the 2000s saying "This will have a specific bad ripple effect" and it was widely shouted down. Oh well.
