So apparently the new thing is people getting mad that Superman would get *any* value from the Kents as they seem to think Superman's identity begins and ends at "immigrant."

Just to show you how nonsensical comics TwiXter is now....

Because no one wants the obvious explanation of "The transporter only existed to cut down on costs, is basically magic, and they were still at a time when they didn't care about 'consistency' because nitpicking nerds didn't ruin everything yet."

I love the common thread in the Benoit Blanc films is just genuinely good people who are just *good* without any specific "motivation" who are faced against a cruel and uncaring world, but who endure due to a commitment to their morals and an unwavering decency to do right by others.

I love the scene where Blanc is introduced.

Just absolute perfect framing.
So I watched the third Knives Out film; again Leblanc isn't the main character, again the suspects are unlikeable.

Again, the crime is seemingly impossible and the resolution is a tragedy more than anything else.

Agatha Christie without the classism or racism.

I love how everywhere Ghost Rider was at this period.

It was really just a character coasting on strong visuals, but a Ghost Rider appearance was always something special back then.

It really is amazing how simply asking people to name a *single* instance of superheroes in fiction doing the horrible, authoritarian, fascist stuff they claim they do all the time just completely throws them for a loop.
December 27, 2025 at 6:42 AM
I just figure have Gollum burst it out at some point.
The Lord of The Rings movies were rated PG-13. By current rules that means that each film could contain one use of the word "Fuck". Which line are you altering to insert the most useful swear word?

"I can't carry it for you, but I can Fucking carry you"
December 27, 2025 at 2:40 AM
Today I learned that a *LOT* of the stuff people are mad at superheroes about is stuff they've made up in their heads.

Kinda makes me wonder why waste that effort.

I love how people just use the blanket assumption that Watchmen was "realistic."

We have no baseline as to what superheroes would *actually* be like because they don't exist. It's like trying to say what elves would "realistically" be like.
And Watchmen was all about how superheroes, when done realistically, are innately authoritarian.

Hey remember when a bunch of idiots were trying to deface priceless works of art and we had to pretend to be okay with it because it was apparently done for the "right" reasons, and not call it out for the destructive, performative nonsense that it was?
December 26, 2025 at 7:34 AM
I hate when people use the term "realistically".

Usually it tends to just be shorthand for "I can't prove this for certain, so I'm just going to use this vague term to proclaim victory without doing anything to sustain it."

Re: The Muppet Christmas Carol.

"Your future is a horror story, written by your crimes!" is such a metal line it's amazing it's in a *Muppets* film.

"Alan Moore said superheroes are inherently fascist."

"What was his argument."

"That superheroes are inherently fascist."

"No, what was his actual line of reasoning?"

"I dunno. But he said it. That should be enough."

"You do realize Alan Moore isn't right about everything?"

And to Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, and instead spun a cocoon around himself into his more evolved form to win the rematch against Godzilla.
And to Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, and will return in Avengers: Doomsday

Animation takes time and it's best not to overwork the people making it.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is amazing (hey, I’m sick and it was on TV) but how are we still 2 years away from the second part?

Mignola's Hellboy stories are interesting because they don't really match up to a traditional 3 act structure. They're more like endurance tests for Hellboy to go through and see how he can survive any number of crazy things thrown at him.
Reading this for the first time was incredible. And last week, I felt like I got to read it again for the first time. (Thanks, @mikemignola.bsky.social and @jesselonergan.bsky.social.)

"Why are people turning on Glass Onion all of a sudden?"

Because the new thing came out. Which automatically made the old thing bad.

There's nothing more to it than that.

Marty Supreme feels like a "fake movie" to me.

Like the type of movie you'd see on a show like 30 Rock or FRIENDS about an actor *trying* to be in a big, thoughtful award winning film with a ludicrous premise, and everyone around him is walking on eggshells.
December 17, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Is it weird that this feels to me like a movie trailer from the early 2010's?

I mean, not in a *bad* way, but it kind has that flavor of "The internet is full of spoilers now, best make it as vague as possible."
First trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day 👀

In theaters on June 12, 2026.

The thing I love about the GLA is that their powers are wacky, but all effective and visually interesting.

It's very much a team created by an artist.
The first guy gets blasted point-blank in the chest and appears to be dead. Either that or he’s faking. But while they’re distracted by his dead body, the robbers are immediately invaded by three other new superheroes! #marvel #westcoastavengers
