I am sending so much love to my colleagues at NIH today. They are incredible people and scientists and don’t serve any of this. 💔

Science makes us stronger, healthier, and more prosperous. My heart is hurting today for those NIH, CDC, FDA employees who dedicated their lives to supporting science and now have lost their jobs

Dr. Richard Youle was fired today. He is an eminent scientist who has done important work on brain diseases like dementia and Parkinson’s.

Musk and Trump are stopping NIH research into cures, for diseases from cancer to Alzheimer’s. Americans did not vote for this.

That Kristi Noem video with the detainees is so upsetting and the fact any sizable fraction, let alone a majority, of our society would endorse it is evidence of a deep rot in our entire culture. Like until you answer what fuels the appetite for that kind of thing it will only get worse

DOGE is working to dismantle the CFPB despite the important work it has done to protect American consumers.

It seems these efforts are just an attempt to help wealthy corporate interests line their pockets and escape government regulation.
Attacks on the CFPB highlight DOGE’s pretense - CREW | Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington
Shutting down that Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) would almost certainly reduce government efficiency, not increase it.

NIH employees should NOT be complying with these data calls.

This data call raises serious first amendment concerns, and no NIH employee should obey it until a serious outside Constitutional attorney and/or court has weighed in.

Don’t break the law, NIH workers! Even if the GC tells you to.
🚨 NIH sent out another data call, this time for projects "related to any form of censorship at all or directing people to believe one idea over another related to health outcomes… e,g., any contracts to promote COVID vaccine uptake," I'm told.

These data calls have recently preceded terminations.

🧪 More research into women's health is badly needed, #NIH had been moving more in this direction, and the Trump/Musk cuts have harmed this effort.
I’m so glad USA Today covered adenomyosis. I struggled with this “silent disease” for decades. It caused my infertility and because I had go on hormonal birth control (which contributed to my DVTs) it nearly killed me. We need better treatments, even as Trump/DOGE is killing uterine health research.
Adenomyosis, the 'silent illness' plaguing their lives, goes undiagnosed for decades
This 'silent disease' plagued these women's lives for decades. One woman lost her dream job. For another, the diagnosis came after her hysterectomy.

Millions of children and adults with cancer get treatment in these 57 centers around the country. These are essential locations for research.🧪
The NCI grant supporting the Columbia comprehensive cancer center was terminated. Tell me how terminating support for cancer research helps the economy.
