On this Trans Day of Remembrance, I hope Albertans will remember that trans kids and teens are living breathing humans who just want to be themselves, without fear of hate and discrimination. Demonizing kids merely to score political points in some weird culture war is craven and cruel.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!

Holy Crap, mammograms are booking out into February at my bikeable location... so not biking and the earliest appointment is still early January.

This is really really not great. (And so different than when I last got one 2 years ago!)

For any unfamiliar with the quality of journalism at Teen Vogue, it's well known for hard-hitting stories on "politically sensitive" topics including climate.

Then there's CBS: the only major network to increase climate coverage in the last few years. They just axed nearly their whole climate team.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

If you read an amazing article from Teen Vogue about politics in the last several years, chances are that Lex McMenamin wrote it. Any publication that is serious about meeting this moment would be lucky to have them.

I love finding other data minded people:

Key finding - Alberta's revenues increased with population growth but this gov't is choosing to spend less on education. They aren't prioritizing it the same way we have in the past or as other provinces do Shocker I know!

Happy Diwali Everyone!

When I was a kid our next door neighbour would make samosas for the block and bring over oh so many! I didn't figure out it was for Diwali until one of my co-workers wife did the same for our project in 2019!

Eat well today my friends!

This should be treated like the crisis that it clearly is.

If any other act of violence killed 3 people in 2 days in Calgary it would be front page news.

perfect example of the bias @drtaragoddard.com writes about.

Instead of discussing "stranger danger" with my kids I go on endlessly about cars
3rd person in 2 days killed by cars. Our hearts go out to their friends and family :(

The crime wave continues unabated... it's so disturbing that leaders are choosing to ignore this #yyccc #roadsafety www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/arti...

My EI blog post today on how data center demand growth may drive up elec prices in near term, but managed well, should help lower retail price. Regulators must assure data centers reduce demand when grid is strained and pay fair share of system fixed costs.

I dislike that Alberta has an ideological government, but what really pisses me off is that our government shoots the province in the foot at every turn.

We could be leaders in:

- clean energy
- a successful energy transition
- a top-notch education system
- excellence in healthcare
