This is the fault of Bill Kristol and his neoconservative ilk

Advocating for machine authoritarian fascism (party in control of all) for decades did this.

When someone else co-opts your fascist framework to implement dictatorial authoritarian fascism, it's still YOUR FASCIST FRAMEWORK!
The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

These are the people the government thugs are beating, gassing, and killing.

This is who is the target of state violence.

This is Minneapolis.

Collective trauma, and neighbors helping neighbors.

This is our 24/7 every day lives right now, not just a 10 second news clip.

Jamie Raskin straight up lies in this statement about impeachment.

It’s not true that every successful impeachment included public hearings and fact finding.

For Andrew Johnson someone just wrote a single sentence on a piece of paper and they voted on it. Worked fine.

Seriously this is worth bookmarking.

Congress uses these tricks all the time. It's from the Simple Sabotage Field Manual, created by the CIA's predecessor.
Right out of the playbook.

…more. What has been coming out of the state and twin cities area is nothing short of breathtaking, historic, and inspiring. It is brave, tho that feels too slim a word for what the people there have done.

It’s reasonable to expect even an ounce of the same courage and moral clarity from leaders…

As I've mentioned recently, there are people who unjokingly identify with the Empire. 🤦
I think everything about Bovino, including why he appealed to the Trump admin in the first place and why he eventually got pushed back into obscurity for running his mouth a bit too much, is succinctly demonstrated by these two posts on May 4, 2025, weeks before he surged to prominence in LA.

This sort of political analysis is like 5X more sophisticated about human psychology and political history than what Dems pay millions for every single cycle.
To understand why impeachment bothers powerful people even though the votes are allegedly not there, picture the following scenario if you are the president, enjoying your unvarnished ability to lord over others:

It is utterly ridiculous that TheMovieDb.org forces animated shows with multiple shorts create a separate "episode" for each--even forcing SERIALIZED animiated full-episode shows to do that. The reason given is "they're often remixed".

But How It's Made is remixed to hell & they don't split it. 🙄

A great #fantasy #book that I've now re-read 4 times is For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn @sagapressbooks.bsky.social

I love the perspective-based narration, voice, introspection, decency… Some of the conflict I can't identify with, but I like bc I'm being exposed to other perspectives.

I had this exact argument with my caucus leadership DOZENS of times when I was in the state legislature. Especially on things like the state budget. They use their compromise position as the starting point in negotiations, then wonder how they got played. So damned frustrating.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
