I rarely post personal things. But I need to talk about my 4-year-old niece, Hope.

She has a rare disease. A drug called elamipretide has helped her survive.

But the FDA recently denied its approval.

Now, her health hangs in the balance.

Please share her story & urge the FDA to reconsider. 🧵

As a reminder, Joseph Welch — who defied McCarthy and brought him low with the “no sense of decency” line — was a partner at the prestigious firm of Hale and Dorr (now WilmerHale).

It’s not only possible for leading firms to resist; it’s essential.
All we need right now is at least one big law firm to speak out and take a stand - surely they will get support from others.

It’s also time for associates in those firms to speak out and push their partners internally and also organize externally.

History won’t be kind to those who are silent.
It does face backlash, it will face backlash & especially in light of last night's EO - Trump's broadest, most unhinged swipe against lawyers who oppose him yet -- I am heartened by what I'm hearing from many in the profession more determined than ever to push back.

INTEL: In the last 12 hours, I've been talking with congressional staff, including some who work for senators who continue to vote for Trump's nominees. I just wanted to understand the calculus. Here's what they're telling me...
UPDATE: 8 Dems voted today to confirm yet another Trump nominee during Musk's coup: Bennett (CO), Gallego (AZ), Hassan (NH), Heinrich (NM), Hickenlooper (CO), King (ME), Lujan (NM), Shaheen (NH). If you're a constituent, don't just call - write an op-ed, protest their office, make clear you care.
The Senate takes 3 votes this afternoon:
1) Go into executive session to consider Russell Vought to be OMB Director
2) Cloture vote for Pam Bondi for Attorney General
3) Confirmation of Christopher Wright for Energy Sec

These should be 3 easy NO votes for Dems. Watch yours and provide that input.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

The Trump Tariffs are ILLEGAL.

He does NOT have the unilateral authority to amend trade agreements with Canada and Mexico.

He needs Congressional approval -- and he does NOT have it.

The tariffs should be challenged in court -- and overruled by Congress. NOW.
