ABA is gay conversion therapy is torture.

It can’t be fixed.

It must be resisted as surely as we resist any authoritarian acts.
A snip, showing that the only thing they could 'prove' was that if a parent wanted a child to e.g. put a cup on a shelf at the end of 40 hrs of ABA, they could put the cup on the shelf (evidence = according to the parent paying for ABA...risk of bias anyone?).
Literally no one would allow autism on their own chart if it weren’t true.

This is gaslighting.

This is medical abuse, neglect.

This is violence.

And we’re all sick of it.

🧵 It’s the first Shut The Fuck Up Friday (STFU-F) of the year and I don’t know who needs this reminder but you do not talk to police. You don’t even talk to them when you have a lawyer. Your lawyer will also tell you to STFU when they greet you. Do not be helpful. Do not offer truth that feels safe.

I’ve seen posts saying people should protest. Go
film. Get people’s faces.

Thanks but no thanks.

STFU
So let me remind you: shut the fuck up!

don't talk to police. don't try to be helpful. don't try to prove your or anyone's innocence. just shut the fuck up.

and I do not have an attorney
so I will not speak w/ you.

There’s a video I saw recently interviewing a guy at a Minnesota protest where the interviewer starts to ask “are you worried this could take us to a dark pla—“ and the guy explodes, “we’re already in the dark place! Look around! They’re murdering us! We’re already here!”

No statute of limitations on murder. Nor should there ever be on any war crime.
I used to not fully understand why they were still, in the 2000s, dragging suspected Nazi camp guards out of their homes and into court, but I sure as hell do now.
Murder. And not just the one who pulled the trigger.

Hm. Let’s see what the ultra left wing Brookings Institution has to say.

I’m sure they’ll find validity in such a well-reasoned argument.

Oh, wait. They didn’t.

Oh! this line: “He’s got all the feels, just waiting to be heard.”

Some of us are nonverbal and are never *going* to be heard.

This underscores just how different we are. A mother’s love and deep respect. And she misses the point altogether.

Allistics are like dolphins. And we’re people.
When autistics feel empathy, it generally doesn’t “look” like neurotypical empathy. Don’t expect autistics to “look” empathic.

"Presuming autistics are competent to understand and feel deeply offers neurodignity, a great gift."

What’s the Truth About Empathy and Autism?
Recent research shows autistics may empathize a bit differently than neurotypicals, but they still feel all the feels. A psychiatric nurse practitioner and mother reveals how.

It makes you more. The whiplash is real. Our low struggle days would crush most allistics.

the fact that you struggle on some days and not on others doesn't make you less disabled and less deserving of grace

Such good advice. We are alive today.

I think of those in any war-torn country. What they had to endure. Have to endure.

We are alive today. Stay alive. In your hearts. We need you. You need you.

When something outside our personal control is looming over us, we gotta learn to process that emotion somehow. Gallows humor ftw, imo

Cuz sometimes the best you can do is just reframe WWIII, y’all 🤷🏻‍♀️

Me, i’m not worrying anymore about looking thin enuf. Chub will be all the rage during the famine.
Considering we may be in world war iii soon, I decided to go for the "buy two get two free" deal on potato chips at the grocery store

As an AuDHDer ... if you ask me how I am handling a given situation ... and I say "This is fine" ... I mean ... this *exact* precarious situation is currently viable and can be tolerated for the time being ... but even a minor shift might be more than I can deal with.

Most autistic adults aren’t struggling because they “lack skills.”

We're struggling because we're taught to survive systems that never planned to support us.

That’s not a personal failure - it's a structural one.

Collaborative healing is almost not a thing in the US.

Allopaths not only have a “one disease, one cure” / “think horses not zebras” mentality, they are unable to dialogue on anything not in the Merck Manual.

They’re technicians, akin to a Jiffy Lube mechanic, with none of the people skills.
Did I go to med school? No. Do I know enough to be like “hey, research indicates GET is not only not effective but harmful, can we look into this together?”

You bet your ass I do.

But bring that up and it’s “oh, you think you know so much, you wanna wear my coat, huh? You want my student loans?”
