What are we supposed to do when those who are sworn to "serve and protect" us are the ones endangering our lives? (Also, please note the open parking spot directly across the street.) @denverpolice.bsky.social

@themayorofdenver.bsky.social I cross this street regularly, standing back at least 15 feet because of the reckless drivers who use our neighborhood as an east-west freeway. There are schools along both sides of Alameda. How do you justify this waste of planning and resources?
In Denver, we’re letting right-wing billionaires who live behind gates and high walls decide how we use public spaces. Years of planning and community input down the drain because a man who inherited his business and wealth knows best.
A proposal to narrow the Alameda from four lanes to two directional lanes has been dropped.

NEW: Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky has conceded. A stunning defeat for a MAGA media fixture who built a national profile on claims of a "complete gang takeover" of Aurora that led President Trump to visit and falsely proclaim the city "conquered" by an immigrant gang

Also, shame on any democrat politician who thought for one moment this was a radicalized progressive. We don’t radicalize toward weaponry and murder. We generally radicalize toward justice, protest, mutual aid, and community action.

I have a supremely bad attitude today and I acknowledge that. But the literal last thing that I need from Apple is new fucking hardware. I need the software to work. I need speech to text to work. I need my phone to stop trying to text the last photo I took every time I set the phone down. (WHY.)

Update on the Ukrainian family running a Boulder bike shop: For the last year, they’ve adapted and repaired trikes for folks with limited mobility. Recently it occurred to them this skill set might be a path to staying in the US. Their temporary protected status expires in a year. Airs soon!

Question for Mike Flood: With $450 million being allocated to Alligator Alcatraz, and ICE burning through $8.4 million a day to illegally detain people—How much does it cost for fascism? How much do the tax payers have to pay for a fascist country?

popular anti-fascism as taxpayer revolt...might have some legs
yeah trump was probably at the big pedophile parties but maybe that’s just the price we have to pay to starve Gaza, take away Medicaid, open concentration camps and send several generations into forced retirement to bring about the billionaire dream of an uninhabitable AI slopworld

I feel like the richest man in the world turning the 8th biggest website on the internet into a full on Nazi AI chatbot should be a bigger news story. Or a news story at all. Oh well, guess I'm wrong

I didn't realize how much I needed Pride this year until I was in it. Huge thanks to the LGBTQ+ communities of Denver and our allies for coming out in droves to celebrate true freedom.

Johnston may have just been speaking hypothetically when he talks about people “damaging someone’s small business,” “light(ing) cars on fire,” and “assaulting an officer” — but if he's worried about TV-based perceptions maybe don't go on TV and mention three things that did not happen last night?

🧵 As @crampell.bsky.social lays out so well, the Trump Administration is erasing “from records of both America’s past and present,” Black people and other groups who have strengthened the fabric of this nation throughout its 250-year history. (1/17) www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/int...

I've had about enough of my senator and fellow Wes alum. Get your shit together, Hick. We're in a war here, and you're sending "strongly worded letters" as though you were tired of getting cold coffee at Snooze. We're in a war here. Wake up. @senatorhick.govpeeps.us
Hickenlooper has sent the Trump administration a series of strongly worded letters. I asked him if that strategy is working. “I hate the letters,” he said. “But sometimes they’re all you can do.”
