Three years ago, census data on the LGBT+ population in England and Wales was published for the first time! 🌈

On 27 Jan 2026 we're organising the Futures of SOGI Data Forum to explore opportunities and challenges associated with gender, sex and sexuality data 📊

Just another regular day on this broken island when a well-known UK trans-exclusionary academic gets blanket media coverage to share her experience of being 'cancelled' by a university.

Without the creation of controversy, trans-exclusionary data activism would cease to exist.

Very interesting developments but sadly still no data on asexuality! 📊 The "other" category increased from 0.7% in 2019 to 1.1% in 2024 though. 📈
Christmas has come early for those interested in sexual orientation data! 🎅📊

The Office for National Statistics has just released new sexual orientation data from the 2024 Annual Population Survey – and the story is one where the proportion of queer people in the UK continues to grow! 🧵

No matter how tough you say times are, there’s always enough money in the banana stand to pay an external consultant to scope ‘academic efficiency opportunities’ www.theferret.scot/consultancy-...
‘Nousferatu’: the notorious consultancy advising Edinburgh uni amid 'huge' cuts
Scotland’s largest university has turned to Nous Group at the same time as it is making savings that could lead to nearly 2,000 job losses. Staff say they were misled about the extent of its work.

Twenty-two years ago today Section 28 was repealed.

But we're seeing history repeat itself as some in the media and in politics spread bigotry and misinformation about trans people.

okay but the second any trans person gets a survey like that we're not going to be answering like that and can't be forced to. so it sorta seems like it's a waste of time, regardless?

God forbid you accidentally include a few trans women in your disaggregated data; let's make sure everyone who participates in climate activities must disclose intimate information! An absurd distraction that only hinders urgent progress for women and girls.

It's not new but it recently hit me again, that one big thing transphobes are, is wreckers. They're wrecking progressive movements. I'm reading Judith Butler's "Who's Afraid Of Gender" right now and it's really good on this
