The shutdown is fun for Trump because now he truly gets to run the country like the Trump Org. Just an endless string of (corrupt) transactions, or “deals”. No long-term strategy, no constraints, and nobody else’s interests matter.

He’ll make it last as long as possible b/c he absolutely loves it.
The shutdown is fun for Trump because he gets to throw lavish Gatsby-themed parties for his millionaire friends AND invent new and innovative ways to hurt poor people.

Mookie is so cool. After the MVP interview, where they (weirdly) didn’t actually hand Yamamoto the trophy that he just won, Mookie encourages him to “Pick it up!”

This.

Democrats should say "It's grotesque that in our country, the richest of us have more money than a family could even spend in a lifetime, while American children go hungry, *and Republican Elected Officials support this system*!

That last part is super-important to say!
We literally do disagree about this, though. Some politicians want to take food from children and some politicians don't. Pretending this "isn't political" just allows the child-starving ghouls to get away with it.

Tell people who supports the *political program* to feed children and who doesn't!

“Trump says he will not seek authorization for Fisherman Executions”
What is the Times doing calling this extrajudicial murder spree “cartel strikes”? On what evidence do they ape the killers’ propaganda?

This is a great anecdote.

Dem electeds: Talk about impeachment every day! Introduce articles every day, and make Republicans vote "no".

There's always 1000 "no's" before the final "yes".
Talking about impeachment isn’t successful if and only if results in a successful impeachment process in Congress.

Taking the floor over and over again matters even if you fail over and over again. Ask John Q Adams.

An astonishingly large crowd!

SOMA Action had over 2000 people in Maplewood, NJ (600 MORE than in June) for #NoKingsMaplewood. Honored to have had Sen. Andy Kim, the fabulous Sue Altman, Tom Malinowski, and the gorgeous sing-along songs from the great Allison Posner and Eli Bolin!

Find a No Kings protest Saturday and go!

Don't worry that you've never been to a protest before. Don't worry about being dressed wrong or looking out of place. Don't worry that you don't agree about everything -- or even about much -- with lots of people at the protest.

The remedy is impeachment. NY reps should write the articles today. Request a vote and make Republicans say “no” on the record. Then repeat. The dam might eventually break. But not without constant pressure.
This is functionally a robbery of New York City and New York State taxpayers, who contribute billions more to the federal government annually than we get back.

Stealing our money, blocking our bus lanes.
NEW: White House announces it's going to pause, and potentially cancel, $11 billion in infrastructure funding (via the Army Corps of Engineers), specifically citing cities, like New York, represented or led by Democrats. More to come.

If only more Democrats could get with that message. The whole point of the shutdown isn’t “they cut healthcare” but “Trump is illegally abusing his power and we cannot vote to fund his lawlessness”.
October 17, 2025 at 3:24 PM
This is just one reason we have to impeach and remove Trump, ASAP. We will be a pariah in the wider world for a long time if we don't decisively show that *this is not who we are*, as a nation. Democratic elected officials: Waiting for the midterms isn't good enough. Act now!
It's going up to $40 billion.

USAID's budget last year was $28 billion.

This galling, terse administration quote about the No Kings protest should enrage any American who believes the government works for us, the people. Unreal. (It's from this story: www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...)

25th amendment, please.

And media: just follow up with basic questions. How many fires? How many stores are left?

And then: are you sure you’re not being shown old, or fake footage by the people who work for you?

It’s not a “gotcha” question. It’s very reasonable and legitimate!
Trump: "Portland, I mean -- every time I look at that place it's burning down. There are fires all over the place. When a store -- there are very few of them left -- but when a store owner rebuilds a store they build it out of plywood. They don't put up storefronts anymore. They just put wood up."

My question about these stolen base replay reviews: if they’re gonna check that the runner’s hand came off the base by 1 inch, then they have to check just as carefully that the fielder’s tag didn’t also come off the runner’s body by 1 inch. They’re ruining a lot of stolen bases with this BS.

Judge Young shows more patriotism here in this single ruling than the entire Republican Party has for years. Bravo.

Now, Democratic leadership: take a cue from Judge Young, and take a stand!!
OMG this William G. Young opinion that just dropped (12:30pm) in AAUP v. Rubio.
It begins with a postcard sent to Chambers and Young's reply

card: "Trump has pardons and tanks, what do you have?"

WGY: "We the People of the United States — you and me — have our magnificent Constitution"
