The Social Media giants need to be accountable.

Banning SM for kids under 16 simply lets those corporations off the hook and those kids who want to, will not only get round it - but do so surreptitiously and in my opinion that's far more dangerous.

Yes Frank.
They really need to up the game in taxing empty sites/spaces.
1% of site/building value after year 1
2% after year 2
5% after year 3
10% after year 4
20% OR CPO @ 60% of value after 5 years.
We have to free up the buildings/sites. No more hoarding. Use them or lose them.

No surprise that CnaM are just foam insulation for the inaction of gov.

It's worrying that this signals that this failed gov will never stand up to any US interests, even when it's blatantly harmful & illegal.

Not a great starting point with everything about to kick off with US v EU.

"However, the officials are understood to have also said any attempt to block the app may be impractical for a number of reasons, including the fact it is used for other purposes"

True - the child abuse image app is also used to promote racism.
Our entire regulatory framework has proved to be no more than a painted balsa wood front.

The AG here confirms it is illegal to generate CSAM.

We also gave CnaM the power to act on any material which was not illegal, but was offensive.

Turns out they don’t wanna.

If on average every European diverted 100 euros in spending away from American products and services, that's €50 billion right there. That's gotta hurt.

When countries get hooked on US tech, their governments are constrained in reining in tech’s harms while most of the economic benefits accrue to the United States.

It’s time to break out of that trap — but that means challenging the Silicon Valley model, not creating our own digital colonizers.
