I’ve said we need a term for “government by liars” because this Trump administration does seem to be breaking new ground in the telling-constant-objectively-provable-lies department.
I have been a reporter for close to 40 years, including stints covering police and the courts. This thing, from the president down, of accusing people of crimes when not charged: That did not used to be a thing. Authorities don’t do that because it is unfair and leads to cases being tossed.

The President of the United States went on CNBC today and said: He won the 2020 election (he didn’t). He has a 71% approval rating (he doesn’t). The jobs numbers were rigged (they weren’t).
