Giving Mario and Rabbids Sparks of Hope a try after seeing it heavily discounted in typical Ubisoft fashion. So far I’m delighted that I can have a team that doesn’t include a Rabbid character, but I’m disappointed that it can’t run in 60fps, even on the Switch 2.

I’m really proud of how this event went overall, but man it was more work than I was expecting! I think my favorite find of the bunch was the Tony Hawk TV ad, with second place being the the Tenchu Dog, and third going to the Ninja Gaiden beta footage that nobody had seen before.

I was worried today’s post would be the least interesting of the pile but if this is indeed new footage from the 2002 beta that makes this an awesome find. Can anyone confirm?
We're not familiar enough with Ninja Gaiden to be able to positively ID it as beta gameplay ourselves, but we have no doubt the preservation community will be able to verify this rather quickly, so please free to share with any Ninja Gaiden enthusiasts you know! We can't wait to learn the verdict!

I’m still in awe of how good this capture looks. The other Betacam SP tapes look good, but this is just a whole different league.
Sweet, sweet digital-to-digital transfer. This video is absolutely gorgeous, and contains zero analog tomfoolery! Better yet, we have more than just a muddy YouTube rip to compare this time! This comparison comes directly from the same trailer included on a bonus DVD from issue 49 of Cube Magazine!

I’m still in awe of how good this capture looks. The other Betacam SP tapes look good, but this is just a whole different league.
I unironically love this.
Before we wrap up, we wanted to highlight the electrifying easter egg we found on the current website of Lightning Media, the post production house tasked with putting these trailers to tape. Is it dated? Yes. Is it delightful? Also yes! It's refreshing to see a bit of whimsy on a website in 2025! ⚡
