I need more commercials like this in my life.
35 years ago today, Nintendo released the Super Famicom in Japan, alongside F-Zero, PilotWings, and most notably: Super Mario World! The impact of Nintendo's 16-bit system cannot be overstated, and its enormous software lineup contains some of the greatest games ever made. Which is your favorite?

Their goal is not complicated: This is a deliberate strategy to defund and privatize public education in America.

This is moving us in exactly the wrong direction.

I call on the Department of Education to immediately reverse course and do its job: strengthen our public schools, not dismantle them.
Exclusive: The Education Department plans to move multiple parts of the agency to other federal departments, an unprecedented effort to dismantle an agency created by Congress to ensure all Americans have equal access to educational opportunity.
Trump administration to announce dismantling of much of Education Dept.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March seeking to close the department, but only Congress has the power to do that.

I spent SO much time playing these games on the GCN back in the day, especially in multiplayer. Would love to see a remake or remaster of both Nightfire and Everything or Nothing!
Happy 23rd birthday to 007: Nightfire! EA's third entry in the #JamesBond video game franchise made excellent use of Pierce Brosnan's likeness, but it wouldn't be until Everything or Nothing that they got his voice to go along with it!

I know nostalgia plays a major part in this, but god damn do I love the GameCube, and I still miss that controller layout! Those 1.4GB mini DVDs were probably a mistake though!
Happy 24th birthday to the Nintendo Gamecube! We love getting excuses to share clips from one of the rarest items in our archive: watch as Nintendo NTD Software Engineer John Cho debuts the system to NOA employees for the first time! What was your first impression of the funky purple console?

Rebecca Heineman is a goddamn legend among women. She did SO much great stuff, from her impossible game ports, to tirelessly keeping the mac gaming scene alive, to making sure that the Kinect works when you're wearing a skirt, to making the worst version of DOOM kinda glorious in its own way.
My trailblazing game industry bad-ass friend Rebecca Heineman has passed away.

Fuck cancer.

It really is incredible how good this game and its sequel looked (and still look)
EA's Star Wars: Battlefront turns 10 years old, today! Even a decade later, the game stands out as one of the most authentic-looking #StarWars experiences in any video game, with a level of fidelity and screen-accuracy that few other studios have been able to match! Maybe DICE was using the Force?

Rebecca Heineman doesn't have much time left. If you can, please donate for her and her family to make end of life arrangements.

Retro Studio’s concept art for the Metroid Prime series is SO DAMNED COOL. I’m super pumped for MP4, thinking I might replay Prime 3 in anticipation.
This preview was found on the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Bonus Disc that was bundled with later releases of the original Metroid Prime for the GameCube! Along with a playable demo, it also contains a series chronicle, another trailer, and a concept art gallery video!

I was first introduced to Mass Effect 1 in 2009, which was when I was sharing a dorm with college buddies and they introduced me to the world beyond my Nintendo Wii. Perfect timing too, because the game blew me away and then I barely had to wait long at all for the sequel!
Happy #N7Day, Mass Effect fans! We've got more ME1 content incoming later this month, but we'll kick things off with the Microsoft X05 reveal trailer from '05! @bioware.bsky.social had just released Jade Empire earlier that year, but was already working on something special for the upcoming Xbox 360

The early internet was a hell of a thing.
Notice the URL at the end? Thanks to @archive.org's #WaybackMachine, we know that the site looked like this around that time! Nintendo bought rights to the site in 2000, making it the official home of the series online. Zelda.com DID exist prior, but well... let's just say it was a different Zelda.😬

To emphasize a point:

I AGREE that game developers are struggling, and *deserve* to be paid more and treated better.

I also understand that doing so would increase the price of some games.

I actually am *fine* with that, as long as we're getting *finished games* without predatory monetization.

Man I remember EXACTLY where I was when I saw this teaser for the first time. College dorm room, sitting around with my roommates (who had introduced me to Fallout 3). All of us were instantly pumped. What a time to be alive.
Happy birthday to @obsidian.net's Fallout: New Vegas, which came out 15 years ago today! This teaser was the first look at FNV for many of us, and set the tone for one of the most interesting stories in the Fallout universe to date!
