Sounds like we would have gotten along. I didn't get my Wii until late 2007, but I had exact change ready in an envelope for the first store on my call list that had one in stock. Meanwhile I was playing a lot of GCN and DS, and even convinced my family to get a DS with Brain Age for my grandfather!

I was looking for mine to take a photo with it on top of a real GameCube but I can’t find it. Just shows that I need to clean up my basement I guess! 😅

I was well into my subscription to Nintendo Power when the GameCube was announced, so I was drinking up every detail I could find. I still remember being absolutely SHOCKED when I realized that the console was going to be the same size as the little promo mailer they sent out with the preview CD!

every now and then I get the itch to dig through old game sites in the Wayback Machine. Sadly a lot of them are glitchy and missing visual elements, but it's still enjoyable digital archeology!
